Added bonus - their women are much greater than American feminist hags. Although Obrador is of the left and Mexico's government has been trashed and corrupted by its version of the US's DNC for decades, in this instance he and his group are doing a good thing. I’d trade our liberals for their liberals! Wouldn’t even have to give it any further thought. |

The consequences to U.S. trade will be enormous. I was working with farmers, ejidatarios when companies like Monsanto and affiliates started offering poor farmers free seed and fertilizer with a promise to buy their harvest. Traditionally the system of ejido farming always saved the best of the crop for next season's seed. This is a practice that is thousands of years old. Entire communities accepted the offer and that year the yield and the size of the corn crops was impressive. So they sold off their crops and the same corporations came around offering credits to buy the seed and fertilizer. Some accepted and others opted to plant their own seed. Two things happened. Some of the people that planted the GMO crops did ok, but the harvest barely covered the debt and they slipped deeper into poverty and debt. Others decided to go back to the old way of farming but the results were disappointing. The seed didn't take, or the plants were stunted and didn't produce. Turns out that the chemistry of the soil was changed by the fertilizers and it was burning the heritage seed. In just a few years traditional strains were almost wiped out. It takes at least a decade of laying fallow and adding organic matter to the soil before non GMO crops can grow again. The current president was an advocate for poor farmers back in the day and its good to see that he hasn't forgotten and is willing to stand up and defend the traditions and wellbeing of the people. Add to that his statement about not being convinced about further vaccines and drug companies greed. This president is far from perfect, but he was an interruption to the nefarious agenda that the other contenders support. Sort of like Trump, he upset the whole plan and has been slandered and attacked since before he was elected. Had anyone else been elected things would be so much worse in Mexico than they are. Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. |

The consequences to U.S. trade will be enormous. ^^THIS^^ Liberals today are no longer real liberals but fascist totalitarians representing the interests of the corporate and mega wealthy elite. They live in their PBS Newshour bubble and therefore uninformed, are pro censorship, pro war, pro CIA and FBI, hate working class people, think anyone without money is a redneck, are pro-enslavement via endless lockdowns that enrich the rich and make everyone else poor, believe Julian Assange should die, salivate like Pavlov's dogs whenever Rachel Maddow comes on and are racist as hell. The real liberals are the ones from the 1960's who championed free speech, read books instead of burned them, loved hearing opposing viewpoints, promoted color blindness instead of racist identity politics, were anti-war, anti-CIA and FBI, fought the military industrial complex instead of embracing it, and are pro Julian Assange. Unfortunately many of them are gone. Today's liberals are fauxgressives. Vicious sjw pukes with a remarkable resemblance to Chairman Mao's red guards. |

Thank You for writing up this story. Years ago I watched a documentary on the “elimination of indigenous” maze corn seed in Central/South American countries by the multinational corps. At the time I didn’t realize how dire the situation became but it did wake me up to how small plot farmers were prayed upon by these evil snake oil salesmen. It was a good documentary. I wish I knew the title to watch it again. . |

This is a crime what was done to Mexico's traditional corn farmers. This is good news, I hope the soils can get healthy again so they can grow the good corn again. I like corn, especially corn on the cob but I won't eat it anymore because of the GMO. It's too sweet and tough too, don't know if that's a side effect of GMO or just how it is now. Peepaws |
