Herbs and Natural Remedies...Share & Learn. UPDATE Pgs. 4 & 5: Usnea, Aster, Daisy
I started a thread on the Mullein plan which can be used to heal the lungs. It can be smoked and/or used in a tincture or tea.

It gave me an idea to start this thread for anyone who knows about herbs or natural remedies or anyone who wants to learn and possibly change their life for the better.

The medical establishment has never really been our friend and it is clear now that it has become almost dangerous. Either way it seems to be crashing and burning before our very eyes.

Share your ideas and knowledge and maybe learn a thing or two. It's not a bad idea to learn how to heal yourself with nature and perhaps with the very plants in your own back yard.

This thread is not meant to be taken as medical advice and I don't pretend to be an expert. It's meant to open a discussion about the healing power of plants. Take it for what it is..an open discussion about just that.

Original thread:

I will start. Japanese Knotweed. Anyone suffering from lingering effects of Lymes Disease should look into this. I know the Lymes can "hide" in the body after antibiotic treatment and the Japanese Knotweed can help rid the body of this.

Hey there . I wonder if people know what passion flower looks like or what the old people called may pops ? It is very good for the nerves . You can use the stems and other parts and the fruit is edible . They use to be everywhere when I was growing up , most especially in the corn fields forty years ago . Wild lettuce for pain . In a SHTF scenario going to need things for nerves and pain . I wish I could post pics . Corn tassel hairs from corn is a natural diuretic . Tomatoes help thin blood . Rose blossom tea mild for nerves and hips for vita c . Sweet gum trees can be used like sugar maples making a sweet syrup .

I have heard a lot about the Passion flower helping with nerves. I am also just learning about something called a Ghost flower which I think also works for nerves. I will post more when I have finished looking into it. It's a very good idea to have something for the nerves these days!

Read or watch videos on how to make your own plant essences/elixirs. It's easy.

I used to go around in morning collecting dew off different plants. I had the person in mind who I was making the elixir for.
The plants really do talk to you, they want to help.

Teaspoon (or so) of lemon juice in 200ml of water as a mouthwash if you have a nagging cough.

Re: Herbs and Natural Remedies...Share & Learn. UPDATE Pgs. 4 & 5: Usnea, Aster, Daisy
Many people are concerned about 'cytokine storm' at the moment. But Nature is always one step ahead and it is there that you will find herbs, fungi and plants known as Adaptogens. They are called this because the have the ability to modulate our immune system. Whether under active or over active Adaptogens will bring it back into balance.

Cinnamon is a bark but it also has this adaptogenic ability.

Could Cinnamon modulate the immune response in severe COVID-19?

Since the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic’s first emergence, limited progress has been made in developing effective and safe antivirals to prevent and treat infection by the pathogen responsible, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). A new study recently appeared in the journal Frontiers in Plant Science that describes the potential for two common plant products to make a difference in the management of severe COVID-19.

In severe and critical COVID-19 patients, a so-called cytokine storm has been identified, characterized by exaggerated inflammation and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), often with multisystem damage and organ failure.

The inflammatory response is due to the production of high levels of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS) that establish the vicious cycle of further inflammation. The inflammatory damage that can be done to the lung alveoli, the endothelium, and the ingrowth of blood vessels has become clear.

...

The current study is a follow-up of a prior screen that involved 99 herbal extracts thought to be anti-inflammatory. It zooms in on the top two, namely, Hop (Humulus lupulus, cones) and Ceylon Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum alias C. zeylanicum, bark) extracts.

These were found to bring about steep declines in activation of a key regulator of pro-inflammatory cytokines, namely, transcription factor NF-?B (nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells).

Just discovered some info on the amazing benefits of Castor Oil! Besides being anti microbial, anti viral and anti fungal it can also increase T Cells. This is a long article but well worth the read. It can be used internally AND externally for many different ailments. I highly recommend reading about it. It is something that is relatively cheap and easy to obtain.

Chaparral or Creosote Bush

used by mesoamerican natives for thousands of years to cure everything from a viral pneumonia to cancer.

I collect branch tips in the spring when they are at peak growth, just before flowering.

Dry it and then use grain alcohol to make a tincture.

1 teaspoon a day keeps the doctor away.

Larrea tridentata (Creosote bush), an abundant plant of Mexican and US-American deserts and its metabolite nordihydroguaiaretic acid

Abstract
Although controversial, Creosote bush, Larrea tridentata (Sesse and Moc. ex DC) Coville, is used to treat a variety of illnesses including infertility, rheumatism, arthritis, diabetes, gallbladder and kidney stones, pain and inflammation. Recently, it has been used as a nutritional supplement. The primary product extracted from this common plant of the arid regions of northern Mexico and Southwestern United States is the potent antioxidant nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA).

Amanita muscaria and similar Amanita with warts are very high in glutathione. Don't eat but micro dose or ferment. Very good medicine for all sorts of reasons. Very good alcohol replacement when shtf. Study and learn your mushrooms. Books are good but they say these are deadly but they are not.

Many other great mushrooms besides amanita.

Sweet thread, OP! Am gonna' have to add this info to big printed binder of health stuff.

I just dropped this on poor fellow's thread where his wife got stung by wasp and had horrible push-the-vax moment at the ER.

I have heard this! What works best is that stuff everyone mows over on their lawn...near their driveway. Broad leaf Plantain. You've seen it...everyone has seen it. It has that little sprig of seeds that grow out of the center if the leaves.

If you chew that up and slap it on a sting or a bug bite of any kind it takes the itch away. I actually make an oil with it.

This stuff also helps with stomach issues. I had a stomach "bug" last year and I'd chew and swallow a couple of the leaves and the pain in my gut would dissipate.

This plant has tons of benefits and most people try to kill it.

Check it out:

Plantain leaf works on any kind of sting or scrape….do the same thing, mash it up and use it as a poultice. Plantain grows most anywhere.

Interesting.

Shamans use tobacco (along with other plants) for healing. Mapacho Ceremonies and Rapé (pronounced Happee) if anyone wants to look it up.

We alwaysed used a baking soda & water paste for stings.

This is also in Stephen Buhner's Antiviral Protocol for sars and coronavirus.

Others include:

Chinese senega root.
Chinese Skullcap (make sure it is the chinese, not the western)
Cordyceps.
Kudzu
Boneset

You can check his website, he probably has updates.

He has series of books on herbal medicines. Two or more specifically on Lyme. He goes into the science of both the illnesses and the herbs.

Last year you couldn't get the skullcap because of its use in these viruses. Seed shortage too. If you grow medicinal herbs learn to save seeds.

Another that is good for over all wellness is Prunella Vulgaris or Self Heal.

Thank you for your Mullein thread. Lot's of it around where I live.

Fire Cider -

1/2 cup each chopped fresh:

Garlic
Onion
Ginger
Hot Peppers
Turmeric
Horseradish root.

1 QT or more Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother.

Use fresh if possible. First four ingredients usually available at grocery. Last two can be found online. Read reviews.

Put chopped ingredients in half gallon glass jar. Fill to top with ACV. Put in cabinet or fridge for 6 weeks.

Strain and squeeze through woven cloth like muslin. If you have food mill run it through to get more of the matter from the roots and vegetables.

Liquid gold with multiple properties you can research.

.5 oz to 1 oz shot a day year round is what we do in our house.

*Not medical advice. It makes a great salad dressing addition if you like it hot. Toss in with some cooked vegetables.
