The article described a new research report that had investigated what was called the “Kentler experiment.” Beginning in the late sixties, Kentler had placed neglected children in foster homes run by pedophiles. The experiment was authorized and financially supported by the Berlin Senate. In a report submitted to the Senate, in 1988, Kentler had described it as a “complete success.”

I read most of the lengthy New Yorker article. Yeah, whatever the perceived benefits early on, years later the grown up boys could go off with violence before they knew what they were doing. Also, some of the boys mentioned in the story are Arabs, not Germans. Maybe some of these German dudes should just hop a flight to Tel Aviv and take a cab to Gaza and put out the word that they're interested in ten-year-old boys.
