That's very sad, but the parents want to know why this happened? These parents obviously let their kids wander the streets alone, in small groups, in large groups - joining gangs, hanging out and getting into trouble. The parents need to look at their own parenting. You don't want your child to die due to gang violence, keep him away from gangs.
