And next year it will be overflowing again. One extreme follows another. Now if they could just learn to manage the people's resources instead of always using everything to manufacture a crisis for political power.
 Quoting: Icey

People need to take responsibility for their own resources and leave areas that are so heavily controlled and not meant to have so many habitants in the first place. Once the people leave there is nothing for the government to control.

Whenever something like this happens and the news reports on it, it becomes a big nothingburger. Watch, they'll get a bunch of rain in the next month and the res will fill back up.

They will still purposely break the dam and blame it on things being 'too dry.'

Watch!

This is amazing! Humans and their wonderous achievements, like building huge, expansive cities and civilizations in a desert - the driest places on Earth - and not expecting any type of water shortage, ever.

Couple that with fascist policies that favor corporations and big agriculture. What could possibly go wrong?

Be prepared for water purification.

I like the Sawyer MINI just in case. They're small and inexpensive.

Edit - should have said filtration - not purification.

They've been dumping all the run off into the ocean for years. If they didn't all the dams would fail. Was there when the Feds had to intervene over the Folsom dam, that thing is about to blow.

As long as there is extra water that's not a problem. But why do they dump water when there is a drought and no excess?

Good .
Now maybe they can make proper repairs to ensure it will hold up once it refills.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80587617

They can't.. there is defective construction in the abutment between the dam and the spillway... left side as you look from front and right side as you look from behind..

It cannot be fixed and its leaking a lot over towards the spillway.. across there... It will fail.

I read that water filters use graphene oxide, though.

Which we now know to avoid at all costs!

What is the filter made out of?

The O lake and Shasta were designed to provide water for 5 to 7 years during drought.

Full two years ago, now flushed to the Delta.
