So many people say pray for forgiveness to God. And repent to God. And that is true and correct. We are to ask God for mercy and forgiveness and strength to move forward in this world . He loves to hear us talk to him.

But what I really love , and not everyone follows this, is it’s an active request for forgiveness. You are supposed to go to anyone you wronged or sinned against and ask them to forgive you.

Now that is something that would make you grow in humility . Admitting your faults and wrongs and asking for forgiveness from another person.

Love it.
I will dwell in you. And you in me. And I will walk with my people .

That is my experience

The Kol Nidre is said before the service, this is the Ashkenazi version:

All vows we are likely to make, all oaths and pledges we are likely to take between this Yom Kippur and the next Yom Kippur, we publicly renounce.
Let them all be relinquished and abandoned, null and void, neither firm nor established.
Let our vows, pledges and oaths be considered neither vows nor pledges nor oaths.

The Sephardic version disavows oaths made during the previous year.
There's a man in a white house with blood on his mouth!
If there's Knaves in the North, there are braves in the South.
We are three thousand horses, and not one afraid;
We are three thousand sabres and not a dull blade.
