The building had huge amounts of saltwater periodically in the garage under the building. That destroys steel reinforced concrete after time. This was a disaster that was decades in the making.

As for the quick demolition? They did no environmental prep or salvage, they only needed to wire columns on one or two floors. All the BS work was eliminated because it was an emergency order.

I live down here and have seen the problems involved with these buildings on the coast. You will see quite a few more abandoned in the near future.

In fact what is coming is what you should be talking about. This will drastically affect the market for high end condos down here.

One ship being grounded and blocking the Miami Channel and then shortly later a devastating hurricane brought that developmental house of cards to an abrupt collapse. Things didn't perk up again down here for over two decades after that.
