Anonymous Coward User ID: 80474845 Brazil 07/03/2021 06:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i see NO REASON why they cannot wear these caps, if they need the extra space for their hair. Quoting: rob2 I agree. It's unbelievable that some on this thread think I'm racist for wanting them to be permitted to wear them. I honestly do not see the problem with that cap. They WILL be permitted to wear them. This is obvious fabricated race baiting by the media & Olympic committee. The same shit weve seen for the past 2 years. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76722105 United States 07/03/2021 06:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Can you point out where this is "race baiting?' I can point out that you need lessons in reading comprehension. You failed that class in school, correct? Everything has become politicized today. Even when black people do have a legitimate issue, they're now lost in the shuffle due to all the deranged liberalism that's trashing America. White liberals in particular (along with black liberals too) have so shitted up the nation and its culture, that most controversies and opinions in 2021 look idiotic, suspicious or ridiculous. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 80194568 United States 07/03/2021 06:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No reason they can't wear the regular swim cap that everyone else does. Quoting: truthwillsetyoufreeagain Their hair is dense and requiring it to be cut and not braided is not fair. That is the reason for the larger cap. I hate blacks killing each other and whites but this isn't something to get excited about. Maybe the Olympics could just ban black skin. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80474845 Brazil 07/03/2021 06:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is no restriction on “Soul Cap” swim caps for recreational and teaching purposes. FINA appreciates the efforts of “Soul Cap” and other suppliers to ensure everyone has the chance to enjoy the water. FINA will also speak with the manufacturer of the “Soul Cap” about utilising their products through the FINA Development Centres. FINA expects to make its consideration of “Soul Cap” and similar products part of wider initiatives aimed at ensuring there are no barriers to participation in swimming, which is both a sport and a vital life skill. |

Quoting: truthwillsetyoufreeagain In the article, a swimmer said that because they use oil on their hair, the rubber cap slides off. It also doesn't fit over their big hair. My kids swam competitively and had both rubber and cloth caps. The elastic nylon cloth caps were so so much easier for them to pull over the hair and more comfortable. That "soul cap" looks like nylon cloth. I still don't see why they can't wear them. This will now create a "race issue." Maybe they can refrain from using oil in their hair when they are going to compete, doesn't seem like a big deal. Then again they can't even stop smoking pot in order to pass a drug test. Yeah...that's unfortunate. They train all their lives and then that. All the opportunities for endorsements gone. |

I'm reading and seeing that I'm being blamed for being racist. How stupid. All the while I'm siding with black swimmers. Typical haters here who can't read what I've been posting. PS: I'm an RN and chose a black physician/surgeon years ago. Best darn physician I've ever known. I loved the guy and his wife. Both deceased now. I miss them. Anonymous Coward User ID: 80561877 South Korea 07/03/2021 07:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Its any kind of big hair, non BIPOC have big hair too. Most swimmers who want to win, shave all their hair as it holds them back weight wise when wet Quoting: KuvaszLove Exactly. The ones bitching about soul caps and other stupid shit, are basically the Colin Kaepernicks of their sport. Not naturally talented or good enough to win any awards or competitions, but black and alphabet-y enough to become SJW's and 'lead the fight for the cause.' That specific gig is very lucrative; they make some bank and reach top status, without having to actually work or compete. Must really suck for the gifted athletes, who truly love the sport and are great at what they do. |
