I think we all know that Elvis was one very special human being.

Honestly Elvis has always seemed like the ultimate example of right place, right time. He is a decent singer but nothing spectacular. Not ugly but not really that handsome, he would really be decribed as feminine looking, a mediocre pretty boy. He danced alright but it was really the time he was in, where what he was doing seemed really new and risque, that made it seem so exciting.

He didn't write most of his material but adapted really good black written soul and rock music and did it for white people, who at the time would not generally listen to black artists. And I am totally against black lives matter woke idiocy, but the black artists of that day mostly got royally screwed and ripped off.

Elvis has some really good songs. But when you compare him to a group like the Beatles, where they wrote their own songs, pushed genres and created entirely new styles and sounds, and where almost every song they did from 64 on was good to great, Elvis just seems really silly as far as some kind of icon.

Truth told, Sinatra was a great crooner and if you hear them sing together, you can hear the real difference in quality and vocal ability. I can see why the old Sinatra fans laughed at Elvis.

Elvis was mostly a hype job of marketing, honestly.
