Let's decentralize the internet
I've never stopped working on P2P related stuff to help decentralize communication on the internet.

One of the latest things I've worked on is creating a mesh of p2p tracker servers so decentralized apps no longer need to depend on the few overloaded public tracker servers.

I'm trying to work out how to make servers participating in the swarm of trackers more secure for individual applications, but still allow them to share other trackers between each other.

Ideally, it would be a giant globally interconnected mesh of P2P tracker servers that can be used by whatever P2P app needs it...

Much more work to be done.

It's fun to work on, but I need a collaborator or two... Ironically, building P2P technologies happens to be a very isolating endeavor. Probably because it isn't easy at all.

If anyone who has programming skills is interested, I can give you the lowdown on how things work, where things are at, and what is needed next.

But if you're an AC, sorry. I'll only talk with members over PM.

I'm just going to pray that God sends someone my way.

I got my own brother interested in programming, but he doesn't care about freedom of speech or censorship. He's working on his own project that will make little difference at the end of the day. And talking with him is a brick wall, anyway. He only cares about his own project, and he's a know-it-all about everything. Sigh.

It's not perfect, but without others to talk to about it, I'm on my own when it comes to testing and confirming that it works 100%.

That is fine OP, no sense reinventing the wheel, Retroshare is open source so perhaps you could extract what you need as far as coding from the Retroshare source code and translate it or apply the algorithms you need to use. Building from scratch then debugging is an exercise in diminishing returns without a team. That is like asking a plumber to manufacture pipe to fix your leaks. Do what you must but it saves time not to reinvent the wheel.

Just saw this, I am a programmer, and I would be interested in what you are talking about. Although I think the statement, 'there are problems' is a bit of a stretch.

I don't have a PM, so I can't talk that way. Just here to have fun and blow off some steam.

My focus is on python and learning. Just FYI. Internet infrastructure has always had a slap-dash feel to me and I just can't stand it.

Building something that can circumvent ISP would be critical. Then the next step is something that automatically cracks down on bad actors.

I have never thought about completely subverting the ISP. I knew some people that had done things similar, but never thought about a large scale implementation. Can't Stop the Signal Mal.

It needs to be simple and elegant. A fun design.
