What is new is the blending of ARTIFICIAL human created technology INTO the human body. And yes, it IS going to happen since governments and some people will ALWAYS WANT some sort of augmentation of the human body for one reason or another.

Governments are going to lead the way so that they can have better /higher quality Cannon Fodder material for their Endless Wars - ie: create more efficient Killers and Humanoid Killing Machines.

If the technology had existed in the 1930's to do this Hitler in particular would have been out there working as hard as he could in creating more efficient humanoid killing machines for his upcoming Wars of Conquest.

We change based upon what we do. If an augmentation does it for us our ability in what it does diminishes. We diminish our legs by using cars, our environmental resistance through clothes, our strength and our skill through machines.

If you say no to an new type of augmentation you should also consider whether the augmentations you currently use should be ditched too.

You are confusing irreversible augmentation with mere convenience.

Yes, man made shoes out of animal skins to run faster and catch better game.

Man created automobiles so that he could go farther in less time.

Your argument is weak...I can remove my shoes and walk barefoot if I desire.

I can get out of my car and walk if I choose to.

Once melded with technology, Man and Machine will be inseparably connected...there will be no going back, it won't be just like taking your shoes off.
