Re: Colitis: If you've dealt with it, please come in and advise me
I just got back from the ER after finding out my pain and vomiting and passing blood are from colotis.

I was given antibiotics, Flagyl and Cipro. I'm hoping they work fast....because I'm still in pain, not as bad, occasionally trying to vomit up my liver, and still passing blood, just a small amount...but I am very relieved to be at home. I hate having to go to the hospital....but I am scared.

The advise I'm looking for is just how you managed to get through this unholy hell, I'm not looking for medical advise. It's not as bad as having a bowel obstruction, but nothing is worse than that, not even a massive heart attack.

Is there anything I can do to have myself feel better?

I know probably not, but I'm asking. I haven't eaten anything for 24 hours, and I can't eat now. I'm hoping the antibiotics don't upset my stomach....I mean, I was still vomiting despite the IV Zophran in the ER.

I'm sipping on a little bit of water, but I do have aloe vera juice, and I know that will be as another healing agent. I'll get started on that after I'm sure I can hold little sips of water down, to larger sips.

Thank you for any advise you can give me. I am very scared what the colonoscopy will show, so please try to be gentle ACs. I don't want to have to block youse guyses again.

Re: Colitis: If you've dealt with it, please come in and advise me
My daughter was the youngest diagnosed with Crohns disease, 20 years ago. She was 5 1/2 years old.
My advice: Go Gluten Free, dairy free, stay away from soy. If you go vegetarian stay away from soy. Make healthy homemade juices. If you need prednisone take it for only a short period of time. It is dangerous and causes insulin dependent diabetes. If given medication be leary of side effects. My daughter was given low dose chemo for years. I was told it was an anti-inflammatory. It is my opinion that Crohns/colitis people end up with cancer because of the cocktail of drugs that they are given. My daughter always complained about the drugs. At 15 she refused to take them, and it was the best decision we ever made. Make sure you have competent specialists and multiple opinions, or somebody will decide to do some radical surgery. Good luck. Hoping and praying that your health is protected!

I had it and was in the hospital for 3 days on iv. Went home very sick with the cramps vomiting and diahrea. Was laying in bed half asleep half awake and Edgar Caycee came to me and said " Tell her to put castor oil packs on her pain area." I woke up and wondered if I had some. Went to the bathroom and there was a small bottle. I put the oil on and every time I would have a cramp I would reapply the oil. I'm telling you the oil saved my life. That was 8 years ago and I tell everyone ab out castor oil. It works. Its a miracle oil.

flagyl n cipro are very hard on your stomach. if u can eat soft food with them, its better. did u have a ct scan? are they sure augmentin wont work for you? need a gastrenterologist visit follow up, imo.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80494981

I already took both of them. There's no way I can eat right now. Yes, they gave me a Cat scan.

I will be following up with a GI specialist.

Gawd, maybe I'll soak a piece of bread in a little milk, and hopefully my tummy won't get to hurting.

They don't come with instructions to eat with them....

Maybe some plain yogurt. No sugar or fruit. It will help with good bacteria. It doesn’t taste that great but take a little at a time. Or just take a probiotic supplement.

If it were me:

Step 1 - Rule out intestinal parasites by treating with Ivermectin. (might also include taking a dropperfull of black walnut extract twice daily in a glass of water. Also put 2 drops of Lugol's iodine in one of those daily glasses of water.

You probably won't need step 2.

Buy a whole chicken and stew it for 3 hours, drink the broth and eat some meat.
Should help your gut heal quickly.

Stay off wheat for a few days. After you are fixed up, you can try reintroducing wheat to your diet. But you could possibly be some degree of Celiac.

Stay off sugar and chocolate.

I am not a doctor. Just the guy with the answer. :)

-itis conditions are always garbage diagnosis. It's inflammation but they don't know what causes inflammation. Allergies but they don't know what causes the allergy. Seems more like toxins would be responsible for inflammation than ambiguous allergy that can't even be proven. You go on a diet but how do you know diet is a factor and not time? -itis conditions are chronic but irregular. Figure that one out.

Also, milk might give you an upset stomach. Safe food i've found is eggs, rice, chicken, Pasta noodles.

I had severe colitis from the time I was 5, used to take cortisone enemas, Prednisone, Azulfadine, and other medicines as well a very restrictive diet. I was even hospitalized for a month at a young age and had to see specialists the whole time. Right around when I was 12 it finally disappeared. Around that age I try to think of what changed. I started smoking marijuana the same time it cleared up and also stopped taking all vaccines/shots. I'm now age 33 and havnt had a flare up since. Honestly, I believe marijuana was the key. They've done successful studies with Crohn's patients that had positive results. Hang in there and have some weed. 😁

you are so right.

Colitis means an issue with the colon, like dermatitis means an issue with your skin.

neither word says WHAT the issue is.

if it is C-diff, I had that. Long recovery, but gone it is.

I believe (my opinion) is that UC and crohns is caused by a bacteria. People can have it for years and never get rid of it.
Don't let this scare you, but again "*investigate* treating it with MMS. I'm sure that within a post or two someone will say that is crazy, but keep an open mind and investigate it.

Don't do this or anything you read here unless you thoroughly investigate it and make your own decisions that YOU are responsible for.
