Anonymous Coward User ID: 79670294 Denmark 06/17/2021 08:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How can we see Gaylon Husk's "Starlink satellite trains" at night, with the unaided human eye? Each one is about the size of a small dining table, and is over 300 miles away from any viewer. They can't reflect sunlight, because they are in the Earth's shadow. So, what are we actually seeing? I know that this simple truth will probably make your "Spacex" fanboi brain explode, but try thinking about it. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79670294 Each one is about the size of a small dining table, and is over 300 miles away from any viewer. And is reflective. Something they are trying to minimize, actually, but shortly after launch the satellites are in an attitude that faces enough surface area to the ground below that you can see them quite easily. They can't reflect sunlight, because they are in the Earth's shadow. Quoting: ACBahahahahaha!!!! You think you can just categorically declare that they're always in earth's shadow? No, that's not how it works. You are so hilariously dishonest. You CAN see them when the sun is close enough to the horizon (generally close to twilight) that the satellites have line of sight to the sun at their altitude while you do not on the ground below them. They know how the sky clock works and as worked since the beginning of the ages. All they did was mathematically model it to work 24/7 day or night. It's how ships used to find direction at night. Satellites are bullshit and that's why GPS doesn't work sometime in remote areas. Period. |

Senior Forum Moderator 06/17/2021 12:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You been on here as long as me. Why the fick are you posting this on a conspiracy site. Do you not have an astrology community you can chat with and share your findings with. No, I have no desire to chat with an astrology community. Dumbass. Your a fuckin weirdo, a very strange person. So? I'm not the dumbass asking an amateur astronomer why they aren't chatting with astrologers... And you fucking know that too, you are hated here. Quoting: FDSI get 4 times as many positive karma votes from other users than negative karma votes. In fact, that ratio existed even before I became a mod here. I don't doubt that dumbasses like you hate me, I'm happy about that. I'd be bothered if you actually liked me. But you are outnumbered. Astromut? Do you think your some kind of hero, Quoting: FDSNo. you are a narcissist Quoting: FDSYou forgot arrogant. who craves the attention. Quoting: FDSNope. I do enjoy putting idiots in their place though. I don't think of myself as any kind of hero, in fact I think of myself as an asshole who beats up on the special ed kids as they get off the short bus. In fact, doing so has inspired me more than you know. The original inspiration for my rocket tracking software came from a desire to document these launches all the way to landing so that I could shove it in the faces of those who would call it a hoax. I basically did it to bully idiots. Does that make me an arrogant narcissist? Probably. Is it still useful to people with the right equipment? You bet. Does it make me a hero? Certainly not. Interesting side note, I've been asked not to post about my software on a couple of the most popular astronomy forums out there. The existing order of professional software companies don't want some upstart offering free open source alternatives to their overpriced crap for tracking satellites (*cough*Software Bisque*cough*). I don't pay to play for a "vendor account" so I'm not allowed to discuss it, even though the source code is freely available. On top of that, there's a certain amount of paranoia that my software attracts an unsafe element to the forums, bad actors who want to use it to shine lasers in pilots' eyes, or that the software itself may not be safe for their users' equipment. In any case, it means I'm not even allowed to discuss it in a couple of the most popular places out there. I'm free to discuss and share it here as much as I want. A very strange worrying individual. Quoting: FDSI'm glad I worry you. You should be worried. Yeah, I'm an arrogant narcissistic asshole, and the only reason I have survived this long here in the face of continuous opposition is because I know what I'm talking about.
