They're in the airlock and it just finished depressurizing. They're getting ready to hoping the hatch. There's an additional thermal cover which looks like a floppy piece of fabric covering the hatch and that's the last thing they'll emerge from as they come out. In fact I could just see the thermal cover moving away from the hatch a little bit when they opened it, the last of the air in the airlock pushed on it.

Camera in space, pan from earth - > sun -> moon
 Quoting: Jay.Crew

The moon is only a few pixels across in most cameras they use on EVA. I'm sure if I looked long enough I'd find an example, but it's not what you're thinking it would look like, it's nothing like a sci-fi movie.
Not saying earth is flat. But this would put a damper on that, which would be good.
 Quoting: Jay

Sorry, but I disagree. The moon and sun can be seen in a lot of the HDEV footage and it's done nothing to put a damper on anything.
 Quoting: Astromut

What does HDEV stand for? (And what location is the footage taken from, if that isn’t clear from the acronym)
 Quoting: Jay.Crew

HDEV = High Definition Earth Viewing. It's an experiment that provided around the clock live streamed views of earth, the sun and occasionally the moon from ISS.
Is the earth or the sun visible in any of the footage take from the moon on any of the moon missions?
 Quoting: Jay

Yes. In fact I did a rough analysis of the earth's angular size in some of that footage years ago.
Or is there any video footage you are aware of that shows (Preferably both) earth And the sun from deep space (not low earth orbit)
 Quoting: Jay

That one might be harder because of the extreme dynamic range involved, depending on the distance from earth. There are plenty of images that contain earth and other planets as well as stars, but the sun is blindingly bright and earth is not nearly as bright when in deep space.

Dammit, disappointed again!

We wanted footage of it under construction before it allegedly went up into space. When they first built it.

Who's "we?" The request I have always heard, time and time again, is footage of its construction in space. It's claimed, time and time again, that there is no footage of it being constructed in space. That is false. As for its construction on the ground before launching, I personally paid witness to the final assembly of the components before they were loaded onto the space shuttle. So did any member of the public who took a bus tour out to the SSPF - the Space Station Processing Facility in the late 90's through the end of the shuttle program in 2011. Here's some footage of the modules being built and prepared at that facility:

See the windows on the right at 2 minutes? That was a gallery area where you could stay as long as you liked and watch the work being performed in the facility for as long as the buses were running that day. You got dropped off by one bus and then you could catch another bus to continue your tour on to the Saturn V center at your leisure. I would just stay there sometimes and watch the employees working on the hardware, getting it ready for flight.

Thanks for the info Astro.

I’d love to see the video you mention of the rough analysis of the earth's angular size. I checked the channel of the other video about measuring the elevation of the ISS, didn’t see it but there were tons of videos so I could have missed it, especially if it was really old.

Re: You wanted footage of ISS under construction? It's happening today, live!

Thomas Pesquet and Shane Kimbrough are getting ready to conduct a spacewalk to install the first of the new iROSA solar arrays to supplement power to the space station. Two of these roll out solar arrays were launched on the current SpaceX cargo dragon docked to the space station and they will slot in front of the existing arrays but generate more power than the part of the arrays that they block. This will also visibly change the appearance of the space station in telescopes.

Although the shuttle stopped flying in 2011, 10 years later additional construction of the space station is still continuing as new parts are built and launched. I hear space deniers say all the time that there is no footage of the international Space station under construction. Well that's completely false, there's a ton of footage from the many missions that initially assembled it, but even today here we have live footage of new parts being installed on the space station. Parts that will be visible even from the ground. If you want to look back at the original construction efforts that put the station together mission by mission, here you go:

How can we know for sure that they aren't in a studio?
 Quoting: ChefElvis

If they're in a studio then I won't see new solar arrays attached to the ISS next time I track it.

How much do you want to bet that I see the solar array they are installing today the next time I track it?

Well that's strange considering I just got a notification not too long ago that the ISS was about to flyover my area
which is in Ontario, Canada.

I have an app that tells me when it does, strangely enough its like twice a day.

If we had it in HD i would LOVE TO SEE IT ....Why would you not record the full moon shot?

I just cannot believe no one wants to see that...If we really did go...IF...Where is the TAPE OR BLU RAY DISK NOW IN HD OR EVEN IN THE BEST IT CAN BE ???

Hell i can watch the Good the bad n ugly in BLU RAY...why not the moon shot??

The film scans can be viewed in HD, but the video from most of their cameras was in much lower resolution formats. You can get the full sets of footage on DVD though.

What is that white bag looking thing right outside the back window? Is that the new section they will be attaching? I just heard them say they are depressurizing the module they are in, so I would guess they will be suiting up and going for a walk soon. Will be cool to watch, thanks for posting. I'll watch the old videos while waiting on them to suit up

Dammit were in a fishbowl. that is why globe and flat tards are having issues. there seems to be a day light and a night light. we can occasionally jump out at the top.

Or, we could go the religious CS view. Those objects that you track are deceiving you, could be demons, some sort of astral projection. who knows.

you do the science you are taught and you can see it so you believe it. however the whole system is taught the way you are supposed to look.

I will say AM has the thickest skin of anyone I have met online. I do think he believes what he has seen. I am sure we built all the parts on the ground. It proves so many things.

Seriously I have no clue, probably never will. I just curious and trying to learn. it is good for people to think and question. if you troll the same question he doesn't want to answer. you might have your answer... or he is done with that. he is a senior forum admin. he can ban hammer anyone. i would say present your case in a thread and ask him for his opinion. it would be so annoying be pelted with a dozen things over and over again.

He truly is one of the last experts on this site. I would hate to lose him too. So many gone, knowledge we will never know. poof.

It doesn't. Earth was as large as it should have been in the images. The sun was even larger because it's over exposed and washing out the film.

I failed to see what that has to do with this thread, and no telescope on Earth is large enough to resolve that. A telescope orbiting the moon, however, can.
