Don't let the coyotes get him. They think cats and kittens are tasty morsels. I used to lose a bunch of them that way.

He will grow up a bit before we cut him loose.

Lock him in the barn or garage at night - whatever you do, do not let him wander at night. He won't survive. Teach him to come using some word like "food" or "treats" and feed him. Then, if he starts to wander away, you can call him back. We always had an outside cat in KS to keep the critters down. We put him in the garage every night, and he lived until 13 when natural causes took him. I've never known anyone who allowed their cat to wander at night that kept them more than a year or two.

The cats job is to kill the nice and rats that eat the livestock feed. The rodents also bring nasty diseases.

They climb a tree and kill the baby birds. Cats belong indoors whether in the house or the barn but not outside killing wildlife. OP, snakes are great rodent eaters and deterrents too. Why would you not want non-venomous snakes around? Are you an idiot?

I like non venomous snakes but we are in a constant battle to stop them from eating or eggs and chicks. I don’t kill non venomous snakes.
