Also, why is the Earth so small when you see it. It should be 4X larger than the moon likes like here on Earth.

That's a fucking lie. The lunar module ascent propulsion system generated just 3500 lbs of thrust and consumed just 11.2 lbs per second of fuel and oxidizer combined.

It didn't need to reach escape velocity, it just had to get into orbit so that the vehicle could rendezvous with the much larger CSM.

Astromut, it's quite basic that any object must reach escape velocity to reach orbit. To achieve escape velocity on the moon an object must travel 2.4 km/sec. The fragile LEM would disintegrate at a fraction of that speed. It didn't happen.

No it doesn't. Escape velocity is greater than orbital velocity. If you reach escape velocity then you are no longer in a closed elliptical orbit.

The LM didn't need to reach escape velocity to orbit the moon nor was it so fragile that it would necessarily "disintegrate" if it reached such a velocity. There's no air on the moon to provide drag and cause it to disintegrate. You are a lying piece of shit.

I should shut the fuck up since I don't even understand amateur astronomy, let alone orbital mechanics like Astromut does. Orbital velocity is the speed necessary to remain in orbit whilst resisting gravitational pull of the object orbited, I just googled that after he put me in my place about escape velocity. He knows what he's talking about and I don't. My substitution of escape velocity in place of orbital velocity was entirely dishonest. I embarrassed myself Sir. Nasa freely admits the Command Module was in Orbit at 69 miles above the lunar surface. In "space". Escape velocity wasn't necessary for the LM.
