The Villiges is MILES long and wide, it's an entire county basicly. I think there are three towns/shopping areas. It wouldn't be likley to attract many intellectuals, writers, bohemian types. We can't stand for that lifestyle. It's just stupid. Maybe a simple over 55 community but nothing like the villages. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80470802 HOA people are some real douchebags that can't mind their own goddamn business. The original Karens. But it isn't just that, they: Have a nice private little park and other things that people can use without having to deal with the general public. Often have their own little security force that shoos away criminals. Keep people's dogs from barking day and night Keep people from running a noisy automobile paint shop out of their garage. Keep people from selling dope out of their house with all sorts of seedy criminals coming and going. Keep people from running a mini amazon distribution hub out of their garage with traffic coming and going at all hours. Keep people's house in proper shape (like a rotted down porch or paint peeling off of the sides and broken windows) Keep 17 people from living in a single family home along with their 17 cars jamming up the street. So yes they do control people's behavior. Some people have to work and expect a certain peace level after they come home and try to go to bed. Or are retired and want some peace and quiet. An HOA is for them. If you want to make noise and do whatever you want then don't buy into one - the thing you don't seem to get is that it IS TOTALLY VOLUNTARY NOBODY FORCES ANYONE TO BE IN AN HOA WHY DO YOU CARE? See you examples are extreme but s cross in a yard isn't extreme it's not a barking dog it's a symbol that offends the depraved std geezers of that park. The same std geezers that attacked that pro trump parade at that park. Be honest about why they are going after a cross when there's a thousand other things to bitch about. I lived in Florida and grew tired of you got nothing better to geezer karen types. Y'all need a good kick in the ass to teach you to mind your own business. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79525094 United States 06/10/2021 10:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Villages Florida - Resident says HOA in The Villages is suing her for displaying cross, lawn ornaments I hate this is happening but IMO this is only getting press because its a Cross. If it was a pink flamingo and the HOA rules say nothing in the yard then you can't have anything in the yard and that pink flamingo would be removed or a fine would be set and would never be reported to the news. Same thing if a HOA says no flags then no flags... Quoting: Soundman I live in a resort area with many, many HOA places I could live and I did live in a restricted neighborhood with a HOA at first. Yes the HOA was a problem. I moved out because I had a utility trailer and my HOA rules said no utility trailers. I now live in a commercial area on a busy street with a business as my neighbor. Its a choice, I could choose to live in a place like the Villages on a nice pond or lake with the perks of HOA cookouts, a community pool, lots of golf etc but these places have rules and if you don't like the rules buy a home like I did. When it comes to HOA rules, the law etc if you buy in a place that does not allow a pink flamingo in the yard you may have an issue with the Cross. Move to the country with no HOA and have a large lighted Cross if its important to a homeowner. I never understood people who buy in a HOA then don't want to follow those HOA rules that were in place when the property was purchased. One thing you can count on if one buys in ANY HOA. You at some point WILL have a HOA Karen that will notice than one little thing you are doing that is against the HOA rules. Only a matter of time as Karen WILL see it and that Karen will report you! What you need to ask yourself is why you feel the need to explain your life choices to strangers? Why bother? Do you need their approval or sympathy. You live in an industrial area but could afford to live on some BS housing development. That’s great. Either way. God bless you. |

Quoting: nutmeg I never lived in a HOA community, but they are usually very nice communities because they have rules for keeping the homes and lawn neat. No overgrown grass....no driveways with cars on lifts waiting to be repaired.....no boats hooked to trailers and parked on streets. I've seen that trash in some communities. Ugly. Giving up your personal rights for vanity sounds very un-American… to each their own I guess. It's their choice! NO ONE is forcing them to live in an HOA community! Don't like a well kept community? Don't live there! A cross in a yard is the thing being attacked by the hoa. How does that equal unkept. Your grasping at straws because you hate Christianity. ... Don't live there! A cross in a yard is the thing being attacked by the hoa. How does that equal unkept. Your grasping at straws because you hate Christianity. The Cross in the yard is the thing being attacked by the HOA because someone complained and I'm sure the homeowner called the local TV because she wants her Cross and wants the press. Im a Christian and a flag flying Patriot but if I purchased in the Villages ( this is why I would never buy purchase in the Villages ) and at my closing I signed and agreed to the By-Laws and those by-laws state you can't have items in the yard such as a Cross, an American flag or a TRUMP sign then you can't have those in the yard. Now the person who actually filed a complaint may have some hate in her heart but the HOA has to do what the HOA is paid to do, enforce the by-laws. I don't see being Christian or not has anything to do with this except this being a Cross and not a TRUMP flag would make the local news come out a do a story on it perhaps. Christian or not the Homeowner is not doing what she agreed to do when she purchased her home in a restricted HOA. She can always sell and take her Cross with her and move to a less restricted part of town... Thats what I would do. It is kinda stupid all the fuss over a small cross but some of you have never been to a HOA meeting. Old people following and enforcing tight restricted rules with retirement time on ones hands I find can be absolutely terrifying... Last Edited by Soundman on 06/11/2021 01:52 AM Soundman |

There are cliques. You have jocks, sluts, stoners, nerds, and the HOA micromanaging them all. Some people serve on the Board to make their community a better place. Others do it for the power trip. They jack up their monthly dues and make it unaffordable. It's the sad price people are willling to pay to live in an age restricted community with amenities. Phil Murphy is a Marxist asshole. |

I read one horror story where the elderly couple's daughter had passed away and they had to raise their grandchild. There are strict age limits in the community and were told they couldn't have their grandchild live with them.
