Christ was fulfilling the father's will. JC knew he would die and rise, but he had to experience it within the flesh. I assume he had thoughts that God the Father may change his path and not require the blood sacrifice of the son.

In the end, Christ fulfilled his destiny and saved us. Judas chose the deception by his own free will. JC was victorious through his sacrifice. JC chose to accept his death for us and he won.

Judas was given the choice, but he failed. Only God can judge a soul and Judas will come before his creator.

I always wondered what would have happened if Jesus had a lesser sentence. Say 30 days in jail. Would he have still died for our sins eventually. Would mankind not be saved then? This had to be the most important trial in history. The sentencing was crucial. The very fate of mankind rested in the decision to give Jesus the death penalty.

No, he wasn't. He was minding other peoples business and money. Perhaps the moneygrubbing thief would have went on to betray his own nation for 13 pieces of gold if the immoral backstabber wasn't brought to justice beforehand. You just don't know these things.
