Who Are You?

"Did you stand up for what was right when that was not convenient?"

I am a non-status native British Columbian whose father's family have been documented in North America since the 1600s and intermarried with native women when they got here.

My mother's family fled the Bolshevik Death Squads in 1918 and she was born in Romania but fortunate enough to come to Canada before WWII although my grandfather was interned by the Canadian government for the whole of the war. We were Stalin's glorious allies after all.

I worked in coastal reforestation for over twenty years, was an arrestee at Clayoquot Sound in 1993 and an organizer of the Ure Creek blockade in 1994 that saw the kick-off of the Great Bear Rainforest Campaign when some Nuxalk Chiefs read about it in the media & called Greenpeace because they didn't know who else to call and, in 1995, was in attendance at the Gustafsen Lake Standoff in support of friends behind the RCMP.

But I have since seen the light and realize that Canadian FNs are being used as a stepping stone to privatize lands and resources that actually belong to all of us the same way the proletariat in the Russian Empire was used, banned from commenting at The Tyee and routinely deactivated from CBC for trying to get this truth out.
