I saw this moth by the lake. The colors are not enhanced. Earlier in the day I saw ten species of blue butterflies. I said to God, "How about something purple?"

I was enjoying a chocolate mushroom at the end of the day, so I wasn't sure if what I was seeing was real. Every time it closed its wings, I was sure I was hallucinating. Nope! I didn't share to IG until the morning, just to be sure!

that's an amazing photo, btw.
i have never seen that particular species in the wild before.

Why do they move their wings back and fourth while they're resting?

You'd think they'd not want to draw attention do themselves when they're resting and vulnerable to any ground-based predator.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78923177

you know what, i don't know?

but i did spend an entire cigarette in my backyard thinking about your question.

some ideas that came to mind:

1.) they are keeping their wing muscles active/online so they can burst speed/fly at a moments notice.

2.) some of them have eye-like features on their wings, the slow flutter could make it look like a larger predator is scanning the area, keeping butterfly predators away.

3.) their wings are connected to their heart chakra, and they are just so fucking joyful they cannot help by move their wings a little bit even if it could be dangerous.

4.) some DNA programmer forgot to add that self preservation sequence into the 4D code.

5.) they already survived being an egg, caterpillar, helpless cocoon.. so they're flexing, bro!

but really, i don't know!

I have my share of butterflys, but I like the dragonflies the best.

Amazing fliers, can almost see the entire sphere around them, and constantly munching on mosquitoes.

They fly up close to me all the time, looking for a tasty mosquito.

My friends. :)

oohhhhh.. dragonflies!

yes, i'm going to look for these now..

last summer, i was at a mini rave in the forest
it was a wonderful time,
but the black flies were horrible!

i first really noticed the dragonflies when i went to kill a black fly drawing blood from my arm with its abominable sawtooth blade of a nose, but i half missed, although i sorta maimed that horse fly even though i didn't kill it.

immediately, a nearby hovering dragonfly went in for the mid-air kill, and i was amazed.

that'a a very tiny 3D volumetic space for a brain, plus programs and memory inside a dragonfly structure. but there it was, CALCULATION.. it WAITED until i maimed a black fly, then went for the kill.

i was astonished, really.. that's a lot of code/memory/execution in a very tiny package. in another life, i used to be on teams designing tech involving CPU, memory, clock, code, failsafes, etc. (auto industry) -- there's NO WAY we could fit that amount of processing capacity into such a small space, at least at this time.

plus, dragonflies look freaking awesome with their iridescent colours!

Re: Butterflies Resting on Flowers in Nature
Butterflies show us another glimpse of God.
Don't even try to think they evolved that way.
Don't be absurd!
Can you really believe and insist that random meaningless chance exploded into butterflies and beautiful flowers and the most spectacularly colorful birds and insects?!
They are so obviously God's Creation.
Can you not see?

Butterflies -The Miracle Of Metamorphosis

One of the most amazing things in God's Creation is the everyday miracle of the metamorphosis of insects. The word metamorphosis simply means great change and great change is indeed what happens as caterpillars change into butterflies.

The design and complexity of metamorphosis is best illustrated in the Monarch butterfly. The life cycle of a Monarch starts when the mother Monarch lays her egg on the milkweed plant. The almost microscopic egg matures in three days and an incredibly tiny caterpillar emerges, the larva stage of its development. The tiny caterpillar is now little more than an eating machine consuming more then its own weight in food every day. After three weeks the caterpillar grows to its full size and then searches for a place to attach itself to as it turns itself into a Monarch Butterfly chrysalis, the pupa stage in its development. It attaches itself to a solid surface and then covers itself with a liquid that comes right out of its body. In only two minutes it transforms from caterpillar to chrysalis and here is where the amazing change begins. For the first thing that the caterpillar does inside its chrysalis is to release chemicals stored in its body and dissolve itself into a liquidy mush. Note: Butterflies come out of chrysalises and moths come out of cocoons.

Out of this liquidy mush the body, head, wings and internal organs are formed. In only 8 days a full size Monarch butterfly emerges. The question that has intrigued humanity for centuries is this, how does the mush organize itself into the incredible complexity that is a butterfly? For the caterpillar mush is truly mush. There is no brain or apparent pattern in the mush, but obviously there is one for all Monarch caterpillars turn into Monarch butterflies. Entomologists have studied this mystery for years, but have no answers as to how it happens.

continued at
[link to www.projectcreation.org]

"The transformation from caterpillar to butterfly is only part of the amazing story of the Monarch. Most Monarchs are born in the northern United States or Canada, but they can then migrate up to 3000 miles to spend the winter in Mexico. What is amazing about this migration is that butterflies never meet their parents, but they are able to fly to the same tree in Mexico their parents or grandparents wintered at the year before. There have even been documented cases where it has taken three generations of butterflies to complete the round trip. How they are able to find the same tree is another of the mysteries of the Monarch butterfly.

Monarch butterflies are one of the best examples of design in God's Creation, for none of the stages of caterpillar/butterfly development occur by chance, the central principle of the religion of evolutionism. The facts show that God programmed every stage of the caterpillar/butterfly life cycle. If there were no other evidence of design in God's Creation than caterpillars and butterflies, this alone would be enough to show the fact of His design in His Creation."

I had flowers everywhere to attract butterflies and bees. In the veggie garden, around the trees, along the driveway and street.

I would let the privet bushes bloom their masses of heavenly smelling white flowers and they would attract so many butterflies.

Thank you for the wonderful video and the kind words.
