Re: Four hours to bug out!
After years of listening to almost doom scenarios I'm not going to get too excited over an end of the world scenario.
Lets see, a to do list would include:

1. Take a nap.
2. Get up a few hours later.
3. Get right with Jesus.
4. 24 hours later walk around and collect all the stuff people in their haste have abandon.
5. Another 24 hours monitor radio and tv to see if things are as a bad as the the nervous Nancy's have proclaimed.
6. See if anybody in the neighborhood is still alive.
7. Re-watch the Omega man movie.
8. Not worry about anything.

Bugging out is unsustainable. You think you have time to grow your own food from seed before you starve? Bugging out is only a temporary situation.

How good are the air rifles? That could be an interesting back up.
 Quoting: Achduke7

The high powered air rifles today (.22 and larger) pack more take down power than a lot of traditional firearms.

Air guns used to take down large game (Hogs, Deer, etc.)

If you search YouTube you'll find 1000's of videos of people using the large bore air rifles to hunt almost anything.

If it'll take down a 400 pound hog, it'll work against people for self-defense as well.

Cheap and no ammo shortage.

Why not keep this stuff in your car permanently? Then you can bug out in minutes instead of hours?

Very true, a sound mind that uses logic and reason is the #1 asset a person could have in such a scenario.

Access to natural resources (game, fish, fresh water, etc.) comes in 2nd place.

As you mentioned, growing crops takes a lot of time and preparation, which means initially people would get 80% of their sustenance from protein and fat sources.

Vegans would die off quickly.

I do have a list !

I should update it ! I have not considered the LIST IN OVER 6 Months!

It IS DIFFICULT TO THINK- under PRESSURE -

Make several LISTS-

# 1 LIST- I always have a B. O. B. - Bug out Bag in the car-
(Basic survival items)

& a SECOND Bug out Bag in the house- For the IMMEDIATE ESCAPE!
(It is in my bedroom near my bed !)”

# 2 LIST- LIST of IMPORTANT- People & Things to take with me-
- that I have to pick up or retrieve before I leave.

As the list gets gets longer add things that would be included in
an I. N. C. H. bag- I am Never Coming Home bag.

Do use a layer system- Even in your smallest Bug Out Bag
Do have a small collection of basic seeds- So if you Don’t Come Back!

Do CHECK OFF on the List-

The PEOPLE
The THINGS
The ACTIONS

You THOUGHT ABOUT in earlier quiet times !

CHECK YOUR LIST AGAIN !

Ask those with you -What are we forgetting? (Put this on the LIST)

(Also keep some back up supplies separate from your home)
SMART people in earthquake areas do this!
WILDERNESS people do this - BECAUSE WHEN DISASTER STRIKES-

YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!

What about bugging in? Simply staying at home gives me a tremendous advantage and covers all the OP’s bases.
 Quoting: President-Elect D. Moraniac

Sorry. I assumed everyone knew that bugging in was level one? I have thousands of pounds of water in my garage. I can't bring that with me.

Level
1 . Bug in
2 . Bug out in car with BOB and INCH
3 . Abandon car and move on with BOB -and - INCH cart
4 . Ditch cart, continue with BOB
5 . lost bob? PSK on person!

Having Bob and inch in car and bugging in simply means moving stuff from car to house. That's easy. Bugging out with little notice means loading car, unless preloaded, and you might not have time.

My bob/ghb is 25# *with* water and extra ammo. I think a heavy BOB is unrealistic.

If you don’t already live amongst the natural resources, what makes people think they can bug out and take from those that have cultivated a living there?

Seems like a lot of people are going to, run to the hills. Being a hill person, I will tell you that you are not welcome here.

Re: Four hours to bug out!
WATER ... clean drinking water will you have it where you are bugging out to?

Chlorine BLEACH is the simple short term solution to having safe water to drink
.

EVERYBODY should print out (and place in each vehicle's gove box) the following "Water Purification Using Chlorine Bleach" (unscented regular stregth) instructions from the US Navy. One bottle of regular bleach can purify (from bacteria, not necessarily all viruses and NO hydrocarbons or radiation) thousands of gallons of water.

If you "Bug Out" grab that bottle of Clorox Bleach from your laundry room and take it with you along with your other stuff.

I would need a scenario.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45660528

You are not coming back. You have four hours. A complete grid/societal break down. Spotty Cell phones, Internet break down, all services spotty including gasoline/petro. Radio works but it is mostly Government propaganda so that people do not riot/panic.
 Quoting: Achduke7

That scenario would at most require a movement to a family camp a few miles away. Accessible by car and water from here. We're much more likely to stay here and just move some supplies and people down to the camp.
Now if they were going to hit our area with a nuke, that would require leaving.

We've planned for the societal breakdown, we're the place that our family is supposed to come to.
