You think you have time to grow your own food from seed before you starve? Bugging out is only a temporary situation. Quoting: Arkansassy #1 tool in an emergency is your brain You need a plan, and you need to be ready to make a better plan. Very true, a sound mind that uses logic and reason is the #1 asset a person could have in such a scenario. Access to natural resources (game, fish, fresh water, etc.) comes in 2nd place. As you mentioned, growing crops takes a lot of time and preparation, which means initially people would get 80% of their sustenance from protein and fat sources. Vegans would die off quickly. |

Then you can bug out in minutes instead of hours? What about bugging in? Simply staying at home gives me a tremendous advantage and covers all the OP’s bases. Sorry. I assumed everyone knew that bugging in was level one? I have thousands of pounds of water in my garage. I can't bring that with me. Level 1 . Bug in 2 . Bug out in car with BOB and INCH 3 . Abandon car and move on with BOB -and - INCH cart 4 . Ditch cart, continue with BOB 5 . lost bob? PSK on person! Having Bob and inch in car and bugging in simply means moving stuff from car to house. That's easy. Bugging out with little notice means loading car, unless preloaded, and you might not have time. My bob/ghb is 25# *with* water and extra ammo. I think a heavy BOB is unrealistic. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77374864 United States 05/25/2021 10:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Chlorine BLEACH is the simple short term solution to having safe water to drink. EVERYBODY should print out (and place in each vehicle's gove box) the following "Water Purification Using Chlorine Bleach" (unscented regular stregth) instructions from the US Navy. One bottle of regular bleach can purify (from bacteria, not necessarily all viruses and NO hydrocarbons or radiation) thousands of gallons of water. If you "Bug Out" grab that bottle of Clorox Bleach from your laundry room and take it with you along with your other stuff. [link to www.cnic.navy.mil (secure)] |

Spotty Cell phones, Internet break down, all services spotty including gasoline/petro. Radio works but it is mostly Government propaganda so that people do not riot/panic. That scenario would at most require a movement to a family camp a few miles away. Accessible by car and water from here. We're much more likely to stay here and just move some supplies and people down to the camp. Now if they were going to hit our area with a nuke, that would require leaving.
