Anonymous Coward User ID: 79875786 United States 05/25/2021 03:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | just a humble opinion, OP, I would advise you to learn the easiest "open" chords, such as G, C, D, E, Eminor, A, Aminor. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79875745 Even with those few chords there are plenty of songs that will have those chords in it. And they are relatively easy to play. Plenty of youtube videos on how to play open chords on a guitar. it will take your fingertips getting used to pressing the strings against the guitar neck at first, but you will develop strength (and calluses) with regular practice. Find your favorite bands, enter into a search engine, "chords and lyrics" for such and such band and whatever song you like. If you learn a song that you like, it inspires you to play more, practice more. Two or three songs that you like will get you playing for 20 minutes/half hour per day at least. That's a good start, but pros always end up dedicating most of their waking hours to practicing. which is why we're broke most of the time, unless we've sold our souls to the....oops....wrong forum....haha! good luck OP. Rock on. This.........****** Sorry didn't see it before my post. Start with open position and in your case power chrods and how they'd relate to bar chords , I.e leaving the third out of the major and minor triads |

Quoting: Pilgrim001 I've got a receiver hooked to the computer and a couple of big speakers on my desk, and I[m planning to hook to that. I'm sure a couple of watts will do me. No lmao don't do that. Buy an amp dude. What's your budget? Why not? I can afford better if there is a reason. they typically sell these cheap guitars with a small amp. I've got much better speaker available. I've got some open back speakers with 2 15's and 1 8" full range speaker. My desk speakers have 2 8" full range speakers. All of this shit is stereo shit and not guitar shit and I know it's different. Don't listen to him, you are correct, you can start off that way now. Once you get really good, you will want an amp, but until then this is fine. It's not even going to sound like an electric guitar going through a stereo amp. If he had an audio interface going into his computer so that he can add virtual amps, then that's a different story. But he doesn't. I can tell you have no idea what you're talking about, but whatever. Y'all can sound like clowns if you want to. |

Don't touch that electric for at least 6 months or until you can cover 4 frets comfortably without having to force your pinky to stretch. Wish someone would have told me that 16 years ago. Mix your practice. Don't spend weeks on chords, throw some scales in there. Youtube and more youtube. |

I suppose you could buy a multi-effects processor and use the headphone out jack to go into your receiver, but even that still lacks qualities of a real guitar amp. Tube amps sound better than solid state amps but they're pricier. This is a good budget tube amp, I recommend starting with this: [link to www.amazon.com (secure)] Well, it is a Monoprice guitar, so.. I'll only be using it in my bedroom. My advice - don’t spend too much time on theory And learn to play a song you love that isn’t too hard. Take in theory at your own pace while you also learn to play songs you love, otherwise it can be miserable. |
