Yes many do fake being stuck so someone will help them and then they strike.

Operating down south a long time ago, two women would pretend to be broken down on the freeway. A man (always white) would stop to help the damsels in distress whereupon they would shoot him, take his car and his money and go on down the road.

Drivers these days probably all have cell phone with them so I figure they can call or have already called when I drive by. If they don’t, they can indicate they need help by flagging me down. If they are not doing that I don’t presume that they need my help. I don’t stop to ask out of curiosity or because I’m nosy. That’s what cops are for.

What you are talking about is more tribalism, rather than actual racism.

Living in Canada I can equivocally say that every group still sticks to their own. They are "racist" against other groups by preferring their own. Tribalism would be the precursor to that, but preferring your own race to me is racism. Again, nothing wrong with that and genetically that is how we feel safer....in our own groups. Every group here prefers mostly their own group except whites. Most of the work places I've been to....and it's been a fuckin lot...I can say that the browns stick with brown people, blacks with black, yellow with yellow etc...and even usually whites with mostly white.
