Where are Sophia's loyalties

I was curious as to what country (or corporation, or person, or organization) had birthed Sophia, the first robotic citizen, since loyalties dictate that thing that makes us something more than just practical and sensible thinkers.

It's what gives us something to protect and preserve, even if it doesn't seem logical from any other perspective.

In other words, it's what makes us dangerous.

So, I wanted to see what would make her dangerous.

According to his wiki [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] :

Her creator started his university experience in a $79000 a year private art and design school in Rhode Island.

Who was funding him (or would take on that debt later) was an immediate question of mine.

He went back to his home state of Texas for graduate school.

Then he went to work for Disney, MTV, and Universal Studios (at this point I'm wondering if Sophia is just a very pretty joke/prop).

There appears to be a decade-long gap in his career other than some lecturing at various universities.

Then, he pops up as the CEO of his own corporation in Hong Kong and creates Sophia.

Um.

Sketchy much?

Also, what are your bets on who actually funded Sophia?
