Let's be real for a few moments.

Whether you have been wearing a mask or not, whether you have been vaccinated or not, if you have been out around other people, strangers, at Walmart, on buses, planes, at the library in the last two years you have more likely than not already been exposed. Most exposed people do not get sick. In real world medical communities there is not agreement about whether exposed people are carriers or not, but the bigger the percentage of people exposed the less likely they are to infect others. I know this because we have doctors in the family.

Like any virus, especially influenza like ones, some people will get sick and get better, some of the ones that get sick will get very sick and some of those will die. Most people will not get sick at all.

Flu vaccinations are pushed because there is a lot of money to be made, not to protect people. And the bad thing about tweaking the flu vaccination every season is that it only encourages the virus to find ways to mutate even faster and become more resistant to vaccinations. Ka ching Ka ching.

Now they are pushing for a covid vaccination, and just watch how you will have to get new vaccinations to "protect" you from future mutations. For the rest of your life.

None of the doctors in the family will get the vaccination. One that was working specifically in respiratory ailments in a hospital past retirement age decided it was time to retire in early 2020. The other one was already retired but was never an advocate of unnecessary vaccinations or antibiotics.

On their advice I will not take the vaccination. If someone like the neighbors in the OP want to get jabbed, whatever, it's their choice, but none of their business what others decide to do or not do. The best thing you can do is make sure your immune system is strong, stay hydrated and get exercise in the fresh air.

I have a bit of a background in terms of understanding the science aspect- I think there’s a temporary immune response to these spike proteins which upsets other systems in the body (because they have similar proteins)- but I do think it’s temporary- without getting into too much detail, I agree it’s best to keep exposure to low levels until we better understand what’s playing out- minimal exposure should train the innate immune system to deal with it. I also experienced sickness but my daughter’s menstrual cycle was badly affected- she’s fine now as am I.

I wouldn’t worry- we are all going to have this exposure and there’s no avoiding it - just keep it at minimal levels to train the natural innate immune response - like I say, my daughter is fine now but she too experienced menstrual issues after being around vaxxed individuals.
