What is going to happen to the blood supply now with Covid? Is the supply tainted? How do you know you are not getting vaxed blood?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56516721

You don't. When you come in to the ER unconscious, they can't ask you whether you prefer vaxxed or unvaxxed blood, and they wouldn't ask even if they could.

Re: Donated Blood Yesterday
It’s been over a year since I’ve donated blood, and my how things have changed.

The first thing they ask you, now, after your name and date of birth, is your gender. Y’all don’t know what I look like but I’m a shaved-head bald dude with a full beard so it’s pretty obvious. I was so confused at first I had to ask the lady to repeat the question. Thought I had misheard her. I wanted to make a smartass remark but I know the poor ground-level employees are made to ask this by their social justice warrior masters at headquarters.

They also ask you your name and DOB repeatedly throughout the process. I think I was asked six times in the space of an hour. No idea what that’s about. I guess it’s a security procedure, but I don’t know how it improves security.

The most troubling part, though, was for the first time since I started donating blood in the early 90s as a teenager, I did not fill the bag. My blood coagulated too fast and they had to pull the needle and give up after about half an hour. The nurse said that’s normal but it’s not normal for me, and with all this talk about vaccine-related blood clots and spike protein shedding from the vaccinated (I’m unvaxxed for Covid. Haven’t even had a flu shot in 12 years), I got really concerned and have started a baby aspirin regimen just in case.

Revbo, may I suggest being tested for hereditary hemochromotosis? It's another "silent killer" that typically goes untested until the symptoms are no longer silent and difficult to treat. It's also the most common genetic disease in Caucasions with a 24% higher prevalence in males.

Called iron overload disease or iron accumulation disease, the body cannot properly metabolize or rid itself of iron, and eventually the blood becomes thick, and iron is deposited in places it should not be deposited. Most doctors do not run full iron/ferritin panels for early indications or prompting for genetic testing.

The only reason I was properly tested is due to an alert biochem-based MD who was afraid I had cancer and referred me to a Hemotologist Oncologist for proper testing and eval. I decided to test for the genes, and I have both (and from both parents).

My treatment is to up my blood donations or, alternatively, straight blood draws if iron/ferritin count (and other markers) gets too high and donation centers reject the blood.

The symptoms of the condition get worse with age due to the iron accumulation over time.

This is a credible info source for the condition:

Re: Donated Blood Yesterday
Did they try to adjust the needle? Years ago I had difficulty filling the bag. I think the bevel of the needle was resting against the wall of my vein. They readjusted and it got a little bit better, but I think it was just a bad location on that particular vein. Did they actually say the blood was coagulating? I thought they put an anti-coagulant solution in the bag to prevent that from happening...unless you mean it was coagulating one the line leading to the blood bag? It never hurts to take baby Aspirin, but don’t stress. You may find that your next appointment to donate goes much smoother.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80254754

Yeah, the male nurse who stuck me was new and not very good at his job. Really nice guy, but he missed the vein when he first put the needle in, despite marking it first with a purple marker, and had to adjust it several times, so it may be as simple as that, but the female nurse who came in to save the day did say my blood was coagulating at the injection site which is why I didn't think that it was just a case of an inexperienced nurse. Now that you mention it, though, she may have just been saying that to not make the male nurse look incompetent.
 Quoting: Revbo™

Venipuncture is an art form. rockon and coagulating at the site of injection means your body is doing what its supposed to. Its healing an intrusion site. But thats my non medical unprofessional opinion and as always if concerned follow it up with a doctor. rockon

One of my 1st attempts at drawing blood was on a black gentleman in a yellow linen shirt going to a summer party after his .mil physical. I was so nervous about collecting 5 vials of blood that I shot right thru his vein and pulled the needle back out spraying bright red blood all over his beautiful shirt. I will never forget that and still laugh painfully about it today. Its not something just anyone can do. I never pursued the medical field after my time in and it wasn't because of blood. It was because of crap like covid and all the mad people I met in the field who want to control everything.

Thanks for sharing. This blood clotting issue should have everyone sitting up and paying attention whether vaxxed or not.

I used to work at my local blood bank (as a registrar) - Contra Costa County Blood Bank in Berkeley California. I was there when AIDS came in the scene - very awful to have to be a registrar in those days. I quit - and went back to college (I was very young btw) - Drink lots of OJ b4 donating. I don't know why - but the human body responds to the vitamin C and Acid - and will produce more blood. Good luck to you! I thought it felt kinda good to give blood. I felt sort of giddy and lightheaded - I am A negative - not much use for my blood type - (lol).

Alabama lifted the restrictions earlier this month, so yesterday at the Red Cross was the first time I’ve worn anything in a few weeks.

Since I am O-neg, the universal donor, a nearby hospital City of Hope medical Center, needs me a lot and i am there most prolific donor so I'm told. also, I live a very boring life given the form you fill out each time. Anyway, I had one donation about 2 years ago in which my vein collapsed and it stopped the donation and did not fill the bag. Boy that really stings when that happens as well. Anyway, no problems since.

Also, my wife is vaccinated and I had no problem donating on May 5th the usually double dose of platelets.

All this to say, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

No I am not worried about vaccine shedding from my wife. Our Lord Jesus protects us from such things like it says in the last 12 verses of the book of Mark.

Re: Donated Blood Yesterday
I've been getting frequent reminders on the Red Cross app last year, explaining that there is a critical need. Anyway, I donated last Wednesday. I mentioned that I didn't get the vaxx, because they ask on the Rapid Test if you have been vaccinated.

A black girl did the draw. She said she was new. She jabbed the needle through the vein, all the way through the other side of it. In my many years of donating blood and donating plasma, this has never happened. The girl said this happens from time to time. I told her she was careless. And I was adamant about it, because this has never happened before. Both her and the supervisor were mad at me for saying the girl was careless. It felt like the intent of the jab was racially motivated, especially by her lack of experience.

After the draw, as I was on my way out of the building, I asked if the staff there had been vaccinated. The supervisor informed me that they all had been vaxxed. I've noticed that here seems to be an indignant superiority attitude among those who have gotten the vaccine jab. I don't feel a kinship with them, because of this attitude, nor apparently do they.

How would injecting a blood transfusion from the infected (Covid vaxed)) affect the transfused?

This is mRNA. No one knows what exactly is in them. Nanotechnology maybe. And they can get into you with blood.

(symptoms thick blood causes symptoms and treatment)

I just found a good overview of why blood thickens?
It says the first reason is low oxygen.

So it could be the cell towers?

Or there is now much less oxygen in the air in principle?

I’m leaning more toward vaccine shedding but who knows. It could just be me getting older.

Are you of Celtic lineage?

Nearly 25% of those who are carry the hemochromatosis gene

Aka too much iron in the blood

The thick viscosity and dark color are a symptom

Best get tested cuz it’s with you for life if you have it

17% Irish according to Ancestry.com.

Thanks for the info and suggestion. hf

they did NOT ask if vaccinated or not - no screening for that

vaccine is going to contaminate the entire blood supply
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79917063

They do ask, but being vaxxed doesn’t disqualify you from donating.
 Quoting: Revbo™

AC7063 - Yes, they DO ask. I donated a month ago and they asked.

Revbo - I can understand your concern, I hope you have nothing to worry about. I started donating in the late '80's. I found out back then that I am a slow bleeder and that my blood coagulates quickly.
I have to keep spinning the little squeeze ball they give you, otherwise my blood stops flowing. Doesn't matter if I am well hydrated or dehydrated.

Hopefully its nothing to worry about! Stay safe, hope you're having a good NPW.
