Human nature hasn't changed much or at all through the centuries. So although leftwing vs rightwing in the past wasn't strictly along the lines that those two political dynamics are known for today, the core defect of liberalism/leftism probably was evident even generations ago.

We were always taught that the antichrist is a group of people and the son of perdition is what most people think of as the anti christ.
