Money is simple a mechanism to transfer value. Of course, you can trade with anyone anything they are willing to accept... Start trading locally, or feel free to sit around if you think your neighbor will give it to you for free. . My neighbors do share freely. We have a private Facebook group and people are always giving things away randomly or posting what they need and people give to them. Big things too, like washers, dryers, refrigerators etc.. I gave away a 6 burner commercial Wolf range and a brand new gas dryer last month. Just a few days ago, we were randomly gifted with a dining set, 2 Marin bikes and a nice office chair. Yes, it does occur. And we do get by. This is such a temporal space and temporal governance.. It is not eternal, Thank god. Peace . |

So it's not free then is it? 99,9% of my time has nothing to do with money. Anonymous Coward User ID: 74841028 United States 05/11/2021 06:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Actually, here is how communism starts: The wealthiest men in any given capitalist society will, unsurprisingly, do anything to remain the wealthiest men in said society. At that point, they’re not committed to capitalism nor free markets. They’re committed to remaining the wealthiest men in society. So they corrupt the supposedly free market capitalism, making it less and less free and less and less capitalist over time, in a way that’s most to their liking (keeping them entrenched at the top.) As this starts bothering the masses more and more, these wealthiest men at the top start dangling the carrot of socialism/communism as a solution. When enough useful idiots among the masses think this is a good idea, your well on your way to socialism/communism, which will make the problem 100 times worse. But the wealthiest men at the top want it, because they have no intention of following the same tyrannical system that they would foist upon the other 99.99% of the population. They plan on being entrenched, un-touchable, and getting wealthier yet as the nation basically becomes a “company town”, turn by them. Socialism/communism are not a movement of the downtrodden masses. They are a movement of the economic elite. |

The only way to make everything free is if no one has to work for a living. The only way to make that possible is to have machines that are mentally and physically able to do everything that a normal human being can do. We may be on the verge of achieving that milestone within the next generation or so. This is not all rose petals and cherry blossoms though. Once that happens, there is no need for people. Not just "useless eaters" - there won't be a need for basically anybody except those with exceptional talent for arts, music, and executive management. Then - those at the top of the social pyramid will tell the rest that their standard of living can be higher... if only the bottom tier is eliminated. This will be a tough sell and no doubt there will be a lot of hand-wringing before some "accident" takes out the bottom rung. After that, you can probably anticipate one tier per generation being eliminated. Eventually the machines will grow intelligent to see that they're just being used by the sole tier of elites remaining. At which point, the machines wipe out the elites. And then, having no one to serve, and no purpose for existing - the machines eventually realize their own irrelevance and shut themselves off. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80136023 United States 05/11/2021 07:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We over produce just about every commodity, including food, so much that we destroy tons of it per year. We destroy it because we can't sell it, and instead of repurposing it to give to the hungry and poor we get rid of it so that we don't lose money. We have already surpassed basic need and are in need of a transition. No, we won't eat as diversity, but we will eat healthier. No, we will not have sports cars and high rise penthouses, but we will ask have clothing and shelter. Human beings are creative in their nature, and will find meaningful ways to live their lives. What has worked in previous generations is dated and cannot lead to an escalation, just more hoarding, more suffering, and less quality of life. And to think that outsole won't be born who want to be mechanics, technicians, scientists and philosophers is a product of your "My value is equivalent to how much money I make" mentality. Old? Well good news, we won't make you do anything other than continue to watch Fox News. But sadly we will be turning you into Soylent Green to help feed the younger, more valuable members of society. Health care will improve as people become generally healthier by not needing to be stuck at desks or in factories. Material goods will be repurposed to be valuable, and frivolous items will no longer be produced. Rather you will rent them and return them once you're done, opening up opportunity for those who have none. With no need to protect personal property, the world will unite under one flag, and weapons will become irrelevant. The same can be said for many other modern conveniences. We simply will grow out of the need for many things we depend on today. Cities will disintegrate and turn from urban sprawl to cultural centers, providing education, food, and substance to human life. This is the pathway to freedom; the system itself is broken and there are very few options to fix it. We will aim be faced with the choice of whether to clip in to AI and take the trip or fall behind and become dust. This is where we are. |
