I think peppers need to buy solar panels.

When silver bumped I quit the dollar average weekly stacking and started buying solar panels. They are still cheaper than their silver content.

I have panels from the Jimmy Carter's days that will still produce 80% of their rating on the sailboat.

You get 5 hours of rating per day. 100 watt panel make half a kilowatt hour. Everything including the computer and tv run on 12volt DC so you don't have to deal with the 8% inverter loss.

I am so far out in the wood that at least once a month I get to go Amish for 6 hours when someone hits a pole. Also have been out for 10 days due to ice storms.

The panels even produce something even when covered with a foot of snow. Due to sun angles 5000 watts of panels only produce 200 kilowatt hours a month December to March.

Don't buy from a company whose sales team wraps you up into many years of payment. The technology may go obsolete by then. Sales people promise the moon, without going into such details as "oh, we've got to rewire your house" or "roof pitch will only avail you 50% of the solar you could have" or "those trees need to come down." They will tack all that on later without advising you honestly in the first place.

THEN, check to see if your crew isn't drinking after lunch. You don't want them falling off your roof. True stories. Sales people know very little about the reality. Insist on a NABSEP designer's signature and qualifications lest you get somebody designing who thinks they can, and the company likes them anyway. Re-designing panel placement due to bad design on the fly isn't possible in such a relatively new industry, except for a few who can do that, and it's a small, limited few.

ooooh what power you need to educate your self on solar its expensive between the panels, the charge controller, the batteries that have to be replaced every several years...learn solar cooking, foraging, water cleaning and purifying. and then get ready for a really shitty life make sure you save a bullet for every one in the family that will have to be killed before they starve to death.
