Oil tanker hit by mystery explosion off Syrian coast after Homs oil refinery fire

An explosion has been reported on board an oil tanker off the coast of Syria, near the port of Baniyas on Sunday.

The incident occurred hours after a major fire at the state-run Homs oil refinery.

In late April, Syria’s oil ministry said a fire erupted in an oil tanker on its coast after what it said was a suspected drone attack.
