User ID: 57719620 United States 05/07/2021 06:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why Is There a Chlorine Shortage Right Now? Blame two factors for the chlorine shortage, says CNBC. One, unsurprisingly, is COVID-19: Last summer, sales for swimming pools skyrocketed as people all over the planet stayed home during the pandemic, leading to an increased demand for prepared chlorine products. But the other cause is more surprising: In August 2020, a chlorine plant just outside Lake Charles, Louisiana—responsible for making a bulk of the U.S.’s chlorine tablets—burned down in the wake of Hurricane Laura, putting a huge dent in the production of chlorine tablets. Reports of massive traffic jams extending out into the Pacific from Long Beach California. Various sanctions imposed all over the place. And of course the Evergreen closure of the Suez Canal. Impacting extends to an ever diminishing list of product variety available. Soup companies eliminated much of their variety of offerings. Resins (plastics, paints, fabrics), steel and aluminum shortages. Last Edited by JustmeTX on 05/07/2021 07:11 PM Justme |

They would also get creative and increase the size of the core in the TP and paper towels, so the outside looked the same, but there was much less product on the roll. Or they would change the dimensions of a candy bar to make it thinner. Last Edited by JustmeTX on 05/07/2021 07:24 PM Justme |
