Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77951042 They WILL raise the price of gasoline, by any and all means necessary, to the prices in Europe ($7 - $9 per gallon) There was never a time to own anything that gets less than 40mpg. Anyone that does is contributing to higher energy costs for everything, and are usually democRat tards. You can't haul anything significant and get 40 mpg! Even a small truck with a load will use a fair amount of fuel. |

Then we would be back to pre 1900's. no, just look at Texas, you lose 30% electricity production and everything goes down. Hacking a Nuke plant doesn't take an EMP You do know why the Texas electric grid went down. They had the capacity to run the Power Plants at 100% to take up that 30% power outage. The Federal Government didn't allow the Texas Power Plants to take up the slack. The US Government claimed excessive emissions and would hit them with penalties and fines. Thanks to the Democrats in power... I'll betcha none of those sob's had a loss of power/service at their address. They could care less about the American people. |

User ID: 2907532 Canada 05/08/2021 12:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am a truck driver, freight rates are down Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3949613 If there was a true overabundance of empty cabs due to not enough drivers then rates would be going up. Rates are dropping, and yes there is less drivers, because who wants to deal with bs all day long to have dispatchers lying their butts off at you trying to get you to break the law to get the job done when you can make money elsewhere, or even sit your butt at home and collect covid benefits? There is less overall economic activity everywhere. This translates into less freight required. And less fuel needed. Think about how much air traffic there wasn't for a full year and diesel still never dropped in price. Jet fuel is only cold treated diesel. Diesel prices never went down, your products never became cheaper. There are less trucks on the road right now than the same time last year, the per mile rate is less too. If fuel prices go up, and shortages happen it is because someone wants it that way. I have been seeing more and more truckers speeding on the highway. I have also been seeing many more 18 wheeler accidents in the Year 2021 than any other year too. One such accident happened over a week ago just on the overpass near my house on I-30. It was bad enough that it moderately damaged the asphalt itself. From what I saw from the photo my mother showed me on Facebook on her smartphone the involved 18 wheeler drivers were really lucky to even survive. Just yesterday afternoon while driving to and from Sulphur Springs, TX I saw at least five 18 wheelers (3 going I-30E, 2 going I-30W) going at least 90 mph on the left lane the entire time I could see them. I have been seriously wondering why so many truckers somewhat recently all have been deciding that committing possible mass murder via totally unsafe driving conditions is well worth keeping their jobs. Fun facts Here's a couple... 1 super carriers are allowed to have in-house training for driving. They claim it's to ensure that they get the "right" training, this is total bs swift jbhunt sneider and crengland are famous for producing steering wheel holders. There's actual online communities dedicated to only swift mistakes. 2 groups pay off driver testing sites enmass you cannot call bs on it as that makes you racist for pointing it out. 3 this is a good one, a border guard explained this one to me. You need one of 2 kinds of id to cross the border either a passport or a fast card. What certain drivers were doing were giving their passport to a cousin who looks similar to them then photocopying their drivers license. The original still has his license and fast card but the guy with no license if asked just says he lost his and is waiting vin the replacement. After all the passport is legal id anyways. It puts an untrained bdriver on the road. And when too many questions bhappen they claim up an no longer can speak English. Now the border want both our passports and fast cards on request. |

Better put enough away for at least a one way trip. I've been letting my storage dwindle so that I can refresh it. Time to do exactly that. "Yes, yes. I see this every day on I-10 through SoCal, frikking Peterbilt sleeper pulling 53 feet of whatever literally jumping my ass in a fast lane; at speed; three feet off my bumper and closing. It is scary as hell just to cover a ten mile commute these days. Quoting: tmcgyver If you are old enough to remember when there was common sense, the left lane essentially used to be a passing lane and then the driver would move to the right after passing. In Georgia, the left lane perchtards were getting so bad that a "move over" law was passed to make the left lane perchtards move to the right when there is a faster vehicle behind them. It doesn't matter what speeds are involved, i.e. someone going the speed limit or above/below. If someone is behind you and going faster than you are, you MOVE TO THE RIGHT TO LET THEM PASS YOU! I miss the old days when retardation and mass immigration were not so prevalent. I like to drive slower for people who are obviously trying to make me move over on the roads, Georgia_dawg. It is my way to troll them in real life. If they get angry with me I flip them off. I have seriously pissed off alot of drivers doing this over the years. Am I wrong in doing what I do? Obviously not. It is not my fault that such people are in such a hurry, especially those with a driving job. Heck, two or three months ago one afternoon I am fairly certain I caused one such individual to beat the living crap out of whoever was unlucky enough to be in the passenger seat of his SUV. I personally witnessed him beat the crap out of whoever it was in a blind rage before beating the crap out of their steering wheel. Unfortunately this happened just off the L3/Major's Airport road/intersection. So I passed at about 50 mph. Is it my fault this happened? Obviously not. Why do you think it is your "job" to make others drive the same speed as you? That's narcissistic behavior. If someone drives faster than me, it doesn't piss me off. I just move over so they can easily and safely pass me. There's a safety reason why we developed a "pass on the left" system. But in today's Idiocracy, it's not used by a significant portion of drivers. They must be too entitled to follow the traffic rules. Those are only for the people not on social media. LOL! |

User ID: 30086121 Canada 05/08/2021 01:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I carry two separate fuel cards for my truck, in case one gets hacked. You fuel once a day usually. That's $250-400 everytime. I have seen times where one of the cards were hacked and any drivers that utilizes that company for clearing fuel payment cannot get fuel on their cards for days. That's why you have more than one way to pay for fuel. I have also seen quite a few times where hackers have targeted one specific truck stop chain where they cannot process any transaction for anything. Cyber crime is very real and it affects us all. Maybe not every day, but often enough. |

Diesel you can store, propane you can store, natural gas you can store. Gas won't last a winter in a lawn mower, you can't store it very long nor can you store enough of it to make a difference if a true shortage comes. Not true. If you use a good stabilizer (PRI-G is much better than Stabil IMO) and use 91 or greater octane "recreation" gas, it stores just fine for years. I store and rotate gas yearly in the spring with no problems. I also set aside and sealed can from 3 years ago as a test and it worked fine. The biggest area people go wrong in storing gas is storing a shit grade of gas like 87, don't use a good (or enough) stabilizer, or don't used sealed containers. However, you point about not being able to store enough to make a difference is true for most people. I keep enough gas to keep critical infrastructure running like the generator (for the well pump only) and chain saws running for a few years, but would not be able to drive much.
