Many people are happily skipping daily showers during the pandemic: ‘It’s one less thing I have to do’

So the one thing that matters most ... personal hygiene ... to wash away germs etc etc people are skipping? Figures.

Funny, as a hobby. I make artisan soap. When the town 100% shut down everyone was asking if I could make hand sanitizer (it was yes as I know how to do it right but I refused) and I told them no. Soap matters more.

You people that aren’t showering daily are deluded. You reek. Sane, civilized people are too polite to tell you this. There’s no bidet in the world that can replace a hot shower and soap.

Not me. A hot shower is physical therapy. Soothes the old achy bones and wakes me up in the morning.

Daily is bad for your skin, every two days is more than sufficient if you don't sweat much.

Um actually a daily shower isn't necessary. In fact you wash away all your natural skin oils. Unless you're doing strenous physical activity every day and sweat alot you don't need a shower every day.

Robin Harper, an administrative assistant at a preschool in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, grew up showering every day.

“It’s what you did,” she said. But when the coronavirus pandemic forced her indoors and away from the general public, she started showering once a week.



The new practice felt environmentally virtuous, practical and freeing. And it has stuck.

“Don’t get me wrong,” said Harper, 43, who has returned to work. “I like showers. But it’s one thing off my plate. I’m a mom. I work full-time, and it’s one less thing I have to do.”

Parents have complained that their teenage children are forgoing daily showers. After the British media reported on a YouGov survey that showed 17% of Britons had abandoned daily showers during the pandemic, many people on Twitter said they had done the same.

Damn, this thread stinks!

You guys prob think I'm gross but I don't shower daily unless it's hot summer and I'm sweaty a lot...it ages you more and not good girl your skin. I am 51 years old and men half my age still look at me in stores ...honestly. I also put high quality olive oil on my face daily and neck...I am Cherokee and Scottish , been on glp nearly 20 years where I learned it
