The Easiest Plants to Grow in My Garden.
I haven't had much luck this year in my garden because I started too early. I had to replant some tomato, cucumber and basil seeds today.

But here are the easiest to grow plants I have. They come up every year on their own.

1. Wild Strawberries

These guys are tough! The leaves were green when it was still snowing this year. I found them growing in my yard a couple years ago so I moved them to a large planter. I didn't want my lawnmower to chop them up.

They branch out and overtake their surroundings like mint. But that's fine for me. They have their own planter and the more strawberries the better.

2. Speaking of Mint...

I've got some peppermint and lemon balm that come up every year. They are just starting right now. I've given them their own planter but in the past years they have spilled over into the yard below. That's no problem, when the lawnmower hits them it smells really nice. The lemon balm helps keep the mosquitoes away.

3. Greek Oregano

I bought one little plant years ago and now it's a large bush in the backyard. It always fights the weeds and comes up every year. I've even moved it at least three times. It's great to add to store bought tomato sauces and on top of pizzas. I wish basil were that easy.

4. The Flower Bulbs past neighbors left.

I never plant flowers, they just come up every year on their own. Thanks to all the past neighbors that planted the bulbs and then moved on.

5. Garlic and Onions

My garlic never seems to grow large bulbs so I just leave it in the ground and use the greens each year. They have a lot of flavor too. I don't have any large onions now but I've got a nice patch of chives coming up that I could cook with already.

What are your easy plants?

Still illegal for you or did they change the laws? It's becoming legal in New York apparently.

I have 4 different sized strawberry planters and I don't grow strawberries in any of them. The ones I have are in a large plastic planter that has a lot of soil in it.

Raspberry, blackberry and strawberry are pretty much invasive and will grow and spread whether you want them to or not! I’m doing a lot of tomatoes and peppers this year, about 36 of each, as well as the normal stuff. Speaking of tomatoes you should look into a few species; Double Rich, which has as much vitamin c as an orange, Caro Red, ten times the vitamin a, indigo rose, has the antioxidants and anthocyanins like blueberries and Tangerine, which has beta carotene and lycopene like a carrot. And if you’re wanting to grow something else to boost your immune system check out black elderberry.

Vegas patio/balcony garden. 2 dozen veggies & herbs growing in large plastic pots including mint, anise, green onions, strawberries, Italian oregano, beefsteak & cherry tomatoes, yellow squash (beautiful flowers.)

Added a sprouted slice of potato (thanks to GLP) which is growing like crazy after a rocky start.

KALE is a hearty plant. Before you tell me that you don't like the taste let me tell you that homegrown kale is MILDER than even iceberg lettuce. Very different, softer texture than store bought kale. NO, you won't think you're eating grass.

Also looking for ideas of very hearty veggies & herbs.

Thanks, I will check them out. I make salsa but it would be nice if it were healthier. I should probably grow more berries. I like that they do their own thing. The strawberries I have are small and not all that sweet. Nice to snack on though or add to cocktails. Any trick to making them sweeter? Something I can add to the soil?

I usually buy my miscellaneous herbs from the market in town. It's changed a lot lately though. My regular plant lady isn't there.

Try herbs and mints with lemon scents to keep away mosquitoes.

Okra...Bang Zoom

And man I love fried and pickled Okra.

We tried Collard greens over the winter here in Florida.... We do have a cover over the raised bed garden, so no Frost issues and we had 4 plants. We had so much by cutting the bottom leaves as it continued to grow taller that for 3 months we harvested way more than we could eat and we giving bags full to all our neighbors...Of course you have to like them, did the same with Brussel Sprouts the leaves are great and actually more tender than the Collards.

Don’t think wild ones will get sweet, probably a survival mechanism, but they like June or everbearing like the PH acidic. Depending on what state you’re in you can get a pretty comprehensive soil test for not only PH and NPK but all the macronutrients for about $15.

Re: The Easiest Plants to Grow in My Garden.
Garden boxes are the easiest. Finally, finally I can grow a decent garden that's organized and pretty year round.

Fennel, Chard, strawberries come back yearly.
Potatoes stay in there until the famine making more potatoes.

Kale, great for soups and omelettes. Super easy to grow.

Chives, thyme, terragon, parsley, all super easy and self propagate.

Tomatoes and basil yearly planted to bake with feta cheese for pasta.

Blackberries and blueberries, come after the strawberries are done. Which are doing great this year with the cooler temps.

Also have a hydroponics aerogarden inside for winter cherry tomatoes.

Right now the jasmine and honeysuckle is blooming, the fragrance is delightful.

My grandfather liked to grow rhubarb and my grandmother would make pies. I was never a huge fan though. A little to tart for my tastes.

He also grew asparagus and that always came up each year... I love that stuff but the problem is it takes 3 years to get started...

I should look into it...

We live on 8 acres and about an acre is covered in wild Black Berries. I picked ten pounds last year. A lot of seeds need to be filtered out to make the jam enjoyable, but really good/ We also have a lot of a variety of wild muscadine grape vines growing on the trees in the woods. normally we would get enough for a couple of jars of jam. Last year we decided to make wine instead. Only enough for .75 liter bottle, but it sure was good. My wife didn't add any yeast or sugar so not so much alcohol, but great flavor.

Actually my weeds are coming up nicely. I planted some dill because I like to make pickles and it's expensive to buy at the store.

I actually had to rip some of them out today because I had too many in one spot.
