Parents allowed to sue Snapchat in deadly Walworth Co. crash (YOU! OUT OF THE GENE POOL, NOW!)
"Brown and Morby’s parents allege a Snapchat filter that showed how fast someone was going at the time of their post had encouraged their sons and Davis to accelerate up to 123 mph to take advantage of the filter. Court documents indicate their car was going 113 mph when it left the road.

The lawsuit also cites what the plaintiffs describe as a commonly held belief that Snapchat would reward a user with a virtual recognition such as its “trophies, streaks, or social recognitions” for a post that showed them reaching triple-digit speeds.

... that particular trophy did not actually exist... "

They should sue every manufacturer who makes cars for putting a speedometer in then because it encourages them to drive fast and reach the higher numbers!

I was the kid that hated going super fast in cars. I had friends who loved it and I hated driving with them. There's been a few times where I know we should've been dead. A few of them have died in car accidents. I was absolutely terrified being a passenger in some of my friend's. Cars.

Wow, this was a literal trip down memory lane for me.
This was the rd my friends loved to hit 100mph+ on. The specific road was called Hogs Back. A super winding road, lots of trees, hills, dips, guard rails to keep you going over cliffs.

There was a specific spot where there was guard rails and on the other side was about a 100 ft drop straight down, you were basically driving on the side of a small mountain almost.
Well you'd be cruising and then this spot where the takes a dive down, that's when you'd pick up the 100mph+ speed and right when you get to the bottom the road shot back up a short ways and you would catch air. The only thing was if you didn't land in time before the road took a sharp turn you would fly right over the guard rail and drop that 100 ft.

I think the spot was somewhere near the 2:20 mark or a little ways after. I couldn't find that point in the video. But I also heard rumors they shaved down that hill and straightened the road out a bit. Last time I was there, there was still a dozen or so cars at the bottom.

I went over that jump with friends more times than I can count and a few I believed we weren't going to land in time and almost didn't. I don't know how I didn't shit myself but I didn't.

This video gave me the same butterflies I'd get when my friends put the pedal to the metal on it.

I also know quite a few people who have died on this rd.

EDIT:

This video shows the section of hogs back rd that we would cruise. I'd mute it if you don't want to hear the annoying people who are looking for the legendary goatman of hogs back

I hate that rd!

Oh hell yes! '69 Plymouth Road Runner. Might as well have had a jet engine strapped to my ass. 383, 4 speed with a Holley carb. It would pass everything but a gas station top end. In the quarter, there were a few things that could beat it. But, not much. Bitch was a scalded dog!

It said 145 on the speedometer and I got her to what would have been two marks past that on the speedometer so...155?? 165?? And on more than one occasion!

At that speed, I went between Porum, Oklahoma and Warner, Ok in less than ten minutes. It was closer to five minutes. Warner to Muskogee in less than fifteen. From my mom and dad's house to my house, in Muskogee, in under twenty five minutes for what is normally forty-five minutes. From three-quarters of a tank to just under half a tank.

I was 20, recently divorced, pissed at the World, and horny. And this girl I knew said she'd meet me at my house and to, 'hurry up'. I took it literally.

The upside. I got laid. And there was no internet, no cellphones, no OKC Bombing, no 911, and...no worries.

Note: After a life as a paramedic, I'd go back in time and kick my own ass for being so goddamned dumb!

Re: Parents allowed to sue Snapchat in deadly Walworth Co. crash (YOU! OUT OF THE GENE POOL, NOW!)
Parents’ fault.

If you’re a parent you gotta tell your kids over and over and explain to them all the teens who thought they were invincible who are now dead after being mangled and crushed.

You have to explain to a child that automobiles have limitations. And a child is anyone under 23 years old.

If you aren’t making absolutely certain that your kid knows all there is to know about all vehicles, then you as the parent have set them up for failure.

I’ve had my kids driving all sorts of machines since they could walk. Golf carts, lawnmowers, quads, small sailboats etc. and my kids start driving a car at 13 on a closed course. Now they are expert drivers. Not only safe but since they can drift my STI on dry concrete they can easily recover from any normal traffic situation
