YouAreDreaming
User ID: 78911081 Canada 05/05/2021 03:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In high school I put some wood on the belt sander in shop class but I used too much pressure. The wood flew across the room and I bloodied my knuckles. Ouch! I've bumped a sander while wearing gloves and it nipped a hole in the glove sparing my knuckle. Couldn't imagine the damage had I not used gloves and made skin contact. |

And lots of girls there too.... I hated the sewing parts though... No cookies involved... |

Injuries around machinery and such can be really bad so lucky for you it didn't reach the bone. I had a work accident that could have been really bad with a banding strap at a lumber mill. This was before safety goggles became manditory for the job (because of me). The strap broke under tension when I was tightening it and the razor sharp tip hit my eye and sliced my cornea. ( It was like a little dagger when we looked at the strap where it broke ) Fortunantly, the cut was not deep, just a graze. After that and a WCB investigation and review they ruled safety goggles must be worn at all times when strapping lumber due to that accident. The doctor said I was very lucky it didn't cut any deeper said the damage was superficial and it healed in 24 hours but left scarring which causes me some eyestrain to this day. My uncle on the other hand, he lost 3 fingers in a chipper so yeah it can always be worse. |

He decided to spend a year in the Alaskan wilderness after that incident. He spent 30 years there instead. |
