If you watch the mare, she has been separated from her colt, who is in the next field acting frantic. A Mother horse has instinct just like any Mother, and I think she was protecting her child. That colt looks pretty young, so I think it was too early to mate her again!

A local woman was a life long equestrian with a barn on her property, her own horses, gave lessons, went into shows, jumping, etc. One day she was working around one of the horses and it kicked her square in the forehead, killing her instantly. One of her young kids was right there and saw it happen, went and got the dad who worked from home. They called 911 but it was too late, she never had a chance.

Here's where it gets really f'd up. The state cops get involved, take the husband into custody, stuff & cuffed into the cruiser, while his 2 kids are crying their eyes out because their mother just got killed. They claim to be following dept policy because a very high percentage of times a spouse ends up dead, the prime suspect is the other spouse.

They didn't care that that daughter told them she saw it happen and the horseshoe imprint was in the mother's forehead making it ridiculously obvious what happened. Anyway, several hours later they let the poor guy come home and take care of his young children. Ever since I heard this, I am even more careful around horses. The video reminded me of the incident.

That almost happened to me when we had horses. We had just moved and had just unloaded the horsed and walked them around the pasture. It was feeding time and all they were interested is when are you going to feed us. As I removed the rope from one, it wheeled around and kicked at my head. I tried to block with my hand. The hoof broke off my watch and knocked off my glasses. but just grazed the top of my head. It happened so fast. A few inches lower and I would be dead.
