Sure you will have the gravy jobs (just replacing the muffler or cats which become routine and tedious) but most of those are modular now and are bolt-in, making things much easier for the most part. Custom exhaust jobs will be the relief valve. Learn about scavenging. It is fulfilling work and welding skills will always be needed. H-pipes, x-pipes, resonators, muffler placement in relation to desired tone and/or volume... yeah. Quoting: ZOOM OUT Edit: forgot about turbo plumbing. Yes, it's absolutely an art...I custom bent all of my pipes... a tape, a sharpie and a mandrel bender is indeed art when in the right hands |

Skilled tradesmen and tradeswomen will be increasingly sought after for their skill set which fewer and fewer people possess. I'm looking forward to the return of the occupation of Master Machinist, which has all but gone extinct. I've been searching for someone to train me in that field but there are few master machinists around. I knew a couple growing up in the Caribbean. It was incredible to me that you could hand them a block of metal and some basic tools and they could, with time, produce a firearm or a watch or a valve or... well just about anything with enough time. I'm not referring to the new definition of master machinist, which apparently has morphed into someone who runs manufacturing lines and CNC equipment. I'm referring to the Master Machinist of days past who could produce any and all mechanical components out of raw materials. |

Plenty of people are just fine sitting on their ass collection unemployment and gov bennies. A large portion of the younger population is hooked on fentanyl, pills, heroin, and coke which they are too stupid and too poor to realize is actually meth. Weird times we live in. you should go to a message forum populated by {{THEM}} that is almost ALL they talk about, is how much they HATE plumbers, auto mechanics, electricians, farmers, anyone who works with their hands and does productive labor. NOT an exaggeration, for {{THEM}} this is the meaning of their life, somehow getting it over on the workers, screwing them out of the product of their labor, enslaving them IS fucking them, it's the same sort of thrill of conquest only infinitely more satisfying to them. |

One recently retired and he has no applications, no leads...what use to be a coveted job in our city is now a job that no one is even applying for. He offers full time pay for 3 days a week of work plus bonuses, insurance and all other benefits of full time job. Not one person has applied. The Kroger store by us use to be beautiful and upscale...a really great place to shop, now its a sh@t hole. Over the last year its become a dump. People on neighborhood app are complaining daily about it. The problem is they can't get anyone to work. One neighbor said he was using the bathroom there and an employee went in to the stall next to him and "pleasured himself" lol, they had an awkward moment at the sinks...it use to be a great place to work and they had their pick of potential employees. Bottom line is no one wants to work anymore bc of government Hand outs. This will and has driven many small businesses out of business. |

I hear ya. Been in IT for 25 years now and I am amazed how meaningless (to me) that work can be. And how very important others find it to be... I’ll never get that. Incidentally, I am going to replace the rear muffler of my car myself, this weekend. It will be the first major car repair that I’ve ever done. Tuuur |
