This article is written by a Doctor who patented a product (Metadichol) that has among many functions the ability to enhance Vitamin D3 usage by the body. I have no affiliation and only share this because I know the truth when I read it, especially in my field (Nutritional Health).

What does Vitamin D do–and what should you know about Vitamin D?

The vitamin D-binding protein (DBP) is a highly specific carrier for vitamin D and all of its metabolites found in the plasma. This allows us to store vast amounts of Vitamin D. Why do we need that from an evolutionary standpoint? Vitamin D synthesis from cholesterol by the sunlight is thus maintained within physiological limits estimated to be 0.01 to 2.5 mg of cholecalciferol per day. 2.5 mg per day translates to 100,000 IU per day! If we are protein deficient, we do not have this ability and our stores are low in low light levels. I created this thread mostly in response to a bunch of "know it alls" in the Mercola Thread yesterday who kept on and on about how too much Vitamin D would hurt you and that all a person needs is "a little sun once in a while".

Fresh eggs are one of the best sources. If you can adapt, raise chickens and run a small garden or farm, not only do you get out in the garden working, but you get the benefits of the eggs as well.

We still have a lot to learn and the "medical advice" of the 80s and 90s will be revised and looked back on as being highly sophomoric.

As will many other of our current paradigms.

Fresh eggs are one of the best sources. If you can adapt, raise chickens and run a small garden or farm, not only do you get out in the garden working, but you get the benefits of the eggs as well.

We still have a lot to learn and the "medical advice" of the 80s and 90s will be revised and looked back on as being highly sophomoric.

there are supplement companies that make D3 from fish oil and from algae. Nature's Plus, and Garden of Life for example.

Both are fine for those with lanolin allergies.

Or try "Dry" Vitamin D3 from a company like Biotech.
