Not to mention that support for BLM hovers around 50% or so nationally anyway. It would be nearly impossible to impanel a 12-person jury that didn't consist of at least a few BLM supporters as well as a few who oppose.

If it had been a BLM rioter kneeing on a white person's neck until they died, you'd all be screaming bloody murder at the top of your lungs.

Admit it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1397910

Not without proof his actions killed him, because that's the law. I don't convict on wishful thinking. The prosectuions experts opined based largely on discredited claims of "I can't breathe" (discredited because he was saying it long before Chauvin had his knee on him). They didn't provide proof. The defenses expert opined based on some proof (heart disease, including clogged arteries, and the effect of drugs which may all contributed to a cumalative effect).

But one black officer did kill someone. He killed a 35 year old unarmed woman with a gun. Without warning. With police in the back. The gun was responsible for her death. The officer: not even named. No BLM people fighting for her rights. No mass protests by white people across the country, including looting and burning. A bullet killed her, unquestionably. You have convicted a man on a theory to as much as 40 years in prison.

Watch Dr. Tobin's testimony on Youtube. He didn't depend on "I can't breathe" hardly at all. He provided an explanation for each one of Floyd's movements leading up to his death, including Floyd trying to use his fingers on the pavement to get out of the "vice" his lungs were in, and explains why he planted his face down into the pavement as another (failed) means of creating space for his lungs to breathe.

One juror already said that was the testimony that did it for her. I have no reason to disbelieve what he said on the stand.

I'm white, and I decided well before the trial that Chauvin was guilty of murder after watching the video. I really didn't need someone like Dr. Tobin to explain to me that he died as a result of the knee on neck, although the description itself was brutal in its vivid descrption of Floyd's agonizing last moments and added clarity to why Floyd did what he did as he lay dying.

Race is irrelevant.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1397910

Wrong, Floyd committed suicide and Floyd's passenger that took the 5th assisted in his suicide.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68572692

Lol not even the defense counsel came up with crazy shit like that.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1397910

They did try to say carbon monoxide killed him

I never got their strategy, wasn't it Chauvin holding down his face a foot away from the exhaust pipe?

Are they claiming Chauvin gassed him humanely?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80313764

From memory, Nelson asked the expert before he opined whether he thought carbon monoxide poisoning was the sole cause of death, to which he answered no. He was talking about the cumulative effect of clogged arteries, with meth and carbon monoxide tightening his arteries even more resulting in a heart attack. In other words, he was not arguing that Chauvin's head was held up to a point near the exhaust that would have killed an ordinary man, but may have inadvertently hastened his death from a normally safe distance.

Besides, if the prosecution had of disclosed his blood test results which they someone lost when the defense was formulating their arguments, this would not have even been argued in the courts. But they miraculously found it the next day...

If you want to convince me him clenching at tires was conclusive evidence of him struggling to breathe you will have to do a whole lot better than regurgitate general arguments about the mechanism for breathing that don't seem to connect one thing to the other. Also this expert greatly embellished Chauvin's knee to the back (it was not pressing down against his chest at any point). And this expert did not stop to think: "hey, he was saying he couldn't breathe before he was even pinned on the ground, maybe there is something more to it?". He just clutched at straws to justify his conclusion. He done a lot more speaking with confidence than he done speaking with substance.

Moreover, the prosecution had an autopsy that claims there was evidence he died of positional asphyxiation, where the hell is that autopsy that they gave to the media has PR but never supplied to the public or presented in court?

I didn't see him clenching at a tire, nor is it really here or there whether Chauvin's knee was in his "chest," since that doesn't seem to have ever been an issue. The knee to the neck is what killed him, not a knee to the chest.

Plus, I'm not "regurgitating" anything, I'm simply countering what you incorrectly noted was "no proof" from Tobin. If you want to substitute the opinion of a clearly world-renowned pulmonologist in favor of your own, that's your business. I'm just pointing out that Tobin provided the key testimony that led to Chauvin's conviction. If you want to make up explanations for why Chauvin was convicted by a jury of his peers, then conspiracy theorize away.

I read your post, done something and came back. I misremembered what you wrote. But Tobin did argue that and it was more substantial than the fingers on the pavement, which also proves that I did listen to his testimony.

So the knee that is not blocking both arteries nor the breathing passages but is lying on the hard of the back of the neck is what killed him through suffocation? And what evidence do you have of that, since it is not blocking his breathing passages and since he was pleading he couldn't breathe prior to having a knee put on his neck (7 times)? You have him clenching his hand on the street. Voila. No possibility of a heart attack largely of his own fault...

To me the bottom line is this, the evidence clearly showed Chauvin sadistically and with depraved indifference to human life murdered George Floyd. So even if that one jurors mind was already made up, it made no difference. 11 other jurors had to think he was guilty.

And no matter how many juries you present the same evidence to, they will reach the same conclusions.

He doesn't deserve a new trial. What he deserves is the death penalty. I believe police who murder citizens should be executed, using the same methods used on a person who murders a police officer.

No exceptions.

It should be a specific crime, a murder that takes place under the color of law, under the pretense of enforcing the law.

We cannot allow people like that to think they can continue to get away with it. Execute a few dozen of them and they will stop

I have to admit, my mind was made up when I first saw the video.

I saw Chauvin murder Floyd.

The jury was sickened by it. Literally.

So was I.

Seeing something with your own eyes is not something anyone can just deny happened with a slick defense lawyer.

Having served on juries I can tell you that this will turn the jury against the accused quicker than anything, taking them for fools and telling them what they saw was not really what they saw.

Do you think anyone who saw this video and from it concluded the cops who did it should be locked up should be excluded from a jury?

WHY, PRAYTELL?

They're going to see the same video at their trial.

SOme guilt is self evident and no sane person would claim otherwise. Like this.

Re: CHAUVIN Juror Went to BLM RALLY and WORE this SHIRT "GET YOUR KNEE OFF OUR NECKS"

Don't know what to think,I don't have enough details, and didnt actually see him kill anyone like I did with Chauvin.

I assume there was some powerful motive that elicited a crime of passion. It almost always is when something like that happens involving blacks.

It's funny, 20 years ago here on GLP I said I wish it was like on star trek the old series, where there were always cameras on everything that happened so the guilty would be exposed and the innocent exonerated..

And it came to past.

And that is why we are seeing all of this anger directed at police. They've been doing this shit all along, people just always took their word for it over the victim, who was often too dead to testify

Being caught on multiple angles of video makes it hard to weasel out of being guilty, that why Chauvin was fucked before he ever walked into that courtroom.

My other wish was that people would all have a small explosive device implanted in their skull that ex0ploded when they lied

I bet the Indians would end up ruling that world

If it had been a BLM rioter kneeing on a white person's neck until they died, you'd all be screaming bloody murder at the top of your lungs.

Admit it.

If it had been a Black Police Officer kneeling on a white person's neck, it would make no difference. However, a BLM rioter kneeling on a white person's neck is NO different than a red neck KKK kneeling on a Black person's neck; both RACISM!

As a Black man who forefathers suffered racism, BLM IS ANOTHER FROM OF RACISM and an insult to any intelligent Black man such as myself who is also a Christian. Down with ALL forms of racism and LIES! Amen to Eternal Life! Rapture SOON!

No masks and no PHONY racist lies in heaven!!

I dont think race should enter into it at all. We are all supposedly equal under the law, see the 14the amendment.

I also think people should be free to believe and express whatever beliefs they wish to so long as they dont do harm to another. As per the first amendment. i feel this is critically important because there are certain groups who would use "anti hate" laws to conceal their evil.
