SpaceX making 1st US crew splashdown in dark since Apollo 8

They’ll aim for a splashdown 6 1/2 hours later, around 3 a.m. in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Panama City, Florida.

Has any crew returned in the Gulf of Mexico?

Why don't they just jump out of it with a parachute like that guy did from a hot air balloon in space?

Why not?
 Quoting: Brit Perspective

Because that guy was only in the stratosphere (128,100 feet), not in space.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80302940

So? ....gravity still works the same...
 Quoting: Brit Perspective

The Felix balloon was not orbiting the Earth.

The ISS and space capsule are in orbit, which means that they are moving horizontally at over 10000 miles/hour.

The reason that they do not fall straight down to the Earth due to gravity is because of that horizontal speed. They are in effect falling around the Earth due to this speed. The gravity plus the horizontal speed is what makes them be in orbit.

So long Crew-1, great job and have a safe journey home. SpaceX is getting ready to webcast hatch closure on the Dragon for its departure from the zenith port of ISS later tonight.

5 for the effort. Will they be using the Russian return vehicle or a SpaceX vehicle?

The further you get from the gravitational source the weaker the gravity pull is (on any object).

An ISS occupant would float out there for far too long to survive before an eventual slowwwww re-entry (ie, satellites).

Elevation above the Earth makes all the difference in the world as far as gravitational-pull.

Why doesn't the moon come crashing back down into the Earth if distance is irrelevent??

Rockets are used to overcome gravity and to overcome a weightless environment.

They're in orbit. It takes way more delta-V to deorbit than you could impart by pushing off with your feet and you need a heatshield.

Dragon has been hoisted up onto the recovery vessel.

Can those inside even stand up after so long in space??

168 days in weightless orbit..

The Commander - Hopkins - looked perty gooooddd as he exited the capsule and rocked his arms and seemingly walked off on his own (somewhat).

Damn, he must be in relatively good shape after 5.5 months up there.

Why did they cut away when Glover was exiting?

Two more crew members still inside...

Welcome home!

Jesus Christ is the only way to Salvation.
1 Corinthians 1611 AV KJ Bible
Chapter 15
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
