The bleeding has stopped as far as I can tell, and it doesn’t hurt too bad now. If a bone or tendon was destroyed I should be able to tell by the mobility right? But I’m no expert. When I open it up I can snap a picture if that helps anyone Oh god no.....go to the clinic now Close in 15 minutes never had time to make it today to begin with |

User ID: 73265907 United States 05/01/2021 04:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Don't go to the ER. Get some liquid Band-Aid. Clean it up really good before you seal it. Hydrogen peroxide until the wound stops bubbling. Allow it to dry thoroughly. Seal it up with liquid Band-Aid. Done. Sorry about your mom's foot. A few yeas ago my mom was staying at my cousin's house to deal with finalizing her dad's death. There is only one bathroom in that house and it is upstairs, right next to the stairs. My mom is about 70 btw. She gets up in the middle of the night and goes to the bathroom. Forgets where she is and walks backwards out of the bathroom... ass over tea kettle all the way down the stairs. She was in a turtle cast for almost a year from breaking her back and neck in several places. Edit: liquid bandaid might burn like a motherfucker for a few minutes but well worth the pain. Anonymous Coward User ID: 76883161 Canada 05/01/2021 04:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My mother broke her foot this morning trying to check on me because she thought I was in trouble. Thought I was having seizures... Quoting: SP1R1T 80M8 Missed a step on her way back downstairs. False alarm. Earlier today I was doing yard work trimming hedges with electric hedge trimmer. Slipped on ladder and cut my finger. Bleeding all over the place and thought for sure needed stitches. Called minor med to see if that is something they deal with. Yes of course. They do . I’ve just left after sitting there bleeding all over the place for about 3 hours. The nurse, little Hispanic girl super great. Cleaned me up for the Dr. to see me. I am able to curl finger, wag it around. About 2 and half hours later dr comes in, Chinese guy. Glanced at it asked if I am up to date on tetanus shot. I said no. By this time it was hard to see what was going on and blood covered the cut. I said look and I curled it and such he said there is nothing that he could do. I asked if it were cleaned up enough to look at and make an observation if he’d do that? He said it was mangled because it was here trimmers. He couldn’t determine if the bone or tendons were damaged but that’s hard to determine since he didn’t look at it. But I am able to curl and wag and bend. I showed him this and said I will still need to go to ER. He kept bowing saying goodbye have a nice day. Lady nurse came back to clean it and wrap it and she was shocked they were sending me somewhere else. I don’t have insurance and explained that it would be a major problem financially to go to ER. She gave me the address to some Hispanic clinic and said it would be at least a fifth of the cost. It’s not bleeding heavily at the moment and if it’s not continuously bleeding that would eliminate need for stitches. So I went and bought neosporin gaws surgical tape and butterfly closures. My current gaws are clean still so I am not going to open it up at the moment and hold on to make further decisions. Based on the information posted above I need glp opinion. Drink a couple of beers. Grab some iodine or other heavy disinfectant. Use tweezers to close the cut & either butterfly bandages with extra wrap & tape or liquid bandaid/super glue. Watch the redness around the wound. If the redness starts spreading seek medical attention as infection is setting in. Good luck. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77772830 Canada 05/01/2021 04:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Any time I went to the ER and got back crazy bills I sent letters to the hospital saying I had no money. They pretty much cancelled all costs, about $7,000. They even cancelled the Ambulance cost ($500-$750 I think). They often do this to people who simply ask, because few ever do. Just say you have no money. They overcharge people so much and make so much money they often will look over people with nothing. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77772830 Canada 05/01/2021 04:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | One time it took 2 letters btw, first they lowered the cost, and I sent another letter saying I couldn't pay that either. Eventually they give in unless it's 100's of thousands and even then they usually will drop that by 75% if you are persistent. No lawyer needed, just letter after letter. |

They overcharge people so much and make so much money they often will look over people with nothing. ^^^ This actually works. ^^^ True story: I have medical insurance, but after an ER visit I was left with an $1,800 bill. Couple weeks later, I’m sitting at my desk and paying bills. I had just pulled the $1,800 invoice and was preparing the check when my wife walked in. She saw the $1,800 invoice and said, “Oh, don’t worry about that one. I already took care of it”. She explained that even though we can readily afford to pay, she simply called the hospital’s billing department, gave them some BS sob story, and they reduced it to $200. She gave them a credit card over the phone and they wrote off $1,600. I was floored. I was literally writing an $1,800 check when she told me this. They didn’t ask for financials. They simply said, “okay” and wrote off $1,600!! So yes..... call their billing department (don’t let it go to collections!) and claim that covid shutdowns cost you your job and you’re unemployed. You have nothing to lose (but your finger). . Last Edited by Zovalex on 05/01/2021 05:11 PM “Mental slavery is the worst form of slavery.
