I've crossed paths with a few monsters - I wasn't close to any of them.

A guy I sort of hung out with (he was friends of friends, we went to the same parties) ended up being a crack head and murdered a guy for $5. He beat him unconscious and drowned him in the Delaware river.

When I lived in Germany, I knew the guy who beheaded his wife's lover with a machete in a telephone booth, took the head to the hospital and gave it to his wife (she was pregnant with her lover's baby) - knew of him, would see him on base but didn't hang out with him or his wife:

My husband is a farmer and had to sent some crazy ass hispanic workers home for acting violent and strange. He wouldn't let them back said that he had a bad feeling. A few days later he heard that one of them just picked up a machete and decapitated one of the new work crew for no reason!

to be fair you cant really judge people for what people theyve known have done. everyone is naming things they thought were f'ed up (as in they didnt agree with it)

ive seen so many drug users in my life and their own friends/partners/parents/coworkers didnt even know about it.
which is fine, if you dont know the signs than you wont catch up on it. but it makes me feel bad. like some parents would think i might be a bad friend for their son because i didnt hide the fact of smoking weed sometimes. when in reality their sons were doing coke and pills and what not, but they didnt know about it so they thought their kid was the good influence lol.

Yes, Baumholder, funny you mention that - I lived in Baumholder the same year that Dahmer did. I was in elementary school (77 - 80). Of course I didn't know him, but he worked at the dispensary and for all I know could have been our medic, administered our vaccines for school etc.

What really got to me was that my friend had his foot amputated due to a birth defect, and wore a prosthetic all the years that I knew him. Even so, he was one of the best athletes in our peer group and had a strong personality. It was all kind of mind blowing.

Local guy had a friend on local draft board. Every time his number came up for Vietnam, he would take it out of the stack and put it back. A woman who had an axe to grind with him knew about the arrangement and wrote an anonymous letter about the friend. The friend was no longer able to protect his buddy and the guy got shipped out to Nam as a grunt.

I know a guy who went to prison for, while dressed as a ninja turtle at a karate demonstration, killing a romantic rival - at the mall no less - with one kick.

Another friend of mine, a girl, is out of prison after ten years for killing her war-vet boyfriend drunk driving.

I know a girl who bit another girl's finger clean off in high school during a fight. Both were pretty prissy white girls - it was a legendary fight. We still call the biter Mike (Tyson).

Another good high school friend of mine was chief of police until he fucked all his female subordinates and then tried to rob a pharmacy, which was the first indicator that he was crooked, then we all found out about the sexual police shenanigans.

I used to be friends with a number of women (and some men) who were absolutely unscrupulous in the marriages and subsequent divorces, but nothing more scandalous than the usual.

That's all pretty plain vanilla, though.

I've done some stuff that was really SLICK ... fucked up in the sense that it was so, so slick.

But no one got hurt. People got out of trouble for victimless crimes and such. That's not really fucked up.

Long ago, a psycho that frequented a bar I was a bartender at killed a guy, a stranger (cut his throat) for throwing a brick at his bulldog. Sometime later, the same psycho cooked up some experimental drug concoction and gave it to his sister to try out. It killed her.

One of my best friends, who was in a biker gang, kidnapped a child molester. He kept the guy in a basement for a few days beating him. Ended up finally putting a bullet in the guy's head.
