The Neverending Story tells the story more clearly than most any other movie/book. But are there some inversions there. The name Moonchild is Crowleyan. Maybe that's a red flag.

One reading of the NES says that Fantasia is the playground they've made for themselves: This World. Obviously, this playground is only fun for the top 10-20%. A lot of other people are suffering.

Some say The Nothing is the dissolving force that is taking apart the Matrix, and liberating us. It may be the Nothing of Buddhist Nirvana, which is nothing to fear.

The Auryn sounds like Orion.

I wouldn't call it a red flag, (ED: Definitely has been influenced by, at least creatively) the story has some direct references to Crowley, but isn't necessarily entirely built on/for his systems.

So yeah definitely references in there relating to Crowley, you must of course keep in mind it's a movie about magick, Crowley was famous for this, as well as an author of short stories and poems with magickal/psychological elements, etc.

Worth noting is that the story is one of a few stories that are prime (A1? :P) tier MK-Ultra style programming. All the elements and a world very easily expanded on, because the victim IS the story, not just part of it. "Just by reading the book and becoming immersed."

I have a feeling, like usual, the book is where the real programming is sourced from. Not just the story, but as the programmers can adjust their voice to suit, and other things.
