User ID: 76388104 United States 04/29/2021 11:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sure...blame the kids when the governors of their states closed schools. Blame the kids when their teachers and employees of schools would rather stay home, or vacation, and get paid their salaries. Blogs... Pandemic remote teaching on vacation? COVID-19 Question: Has anyone planned a trip during this remote teaching period? I was thinking of doing a long weekend trip and teaching one day remotely around election day. Answer: If you do, I’d make sure to have a blank wall behind you and don’t tell student you are away, it can be misconstrued. Answer: Yes. I get the feeling teachers going on vacation while remote is a big part of the reason we’re required to be on campus even though the kids are virtual. So if you do go on a trip, I’d definitely advise being discreet. Answer: And go radio silent-no social media. I know a gal who got called out a few weeks ago because she was teaching from out of state. One of her co-workers saw her FB post and complained to admin. Answer: I completely get what you (and commenters) are saying. If you do this, definitely be discrete, don't post on social media, and be careful about your background. That being said, this is just a bad look for teachers everywhere when people do this. It just plays into the narrative that we are all just lazy, don't want to show up to work in person, and will play the "Covid Card" and complain that we don't want to teach in person due to the pandemic; yet we have no problem leaving our community "bubble" to go on a vacation and risk possible exposure. To each his/her own, but personally it sounds a little hypocritical and reckless to go on vacation when the whole point of remote learning is to limit exposure, stay home, and stay safe. Yes. What kid is really into learning online when they have TV, video games, and distractions at home? A kid has to be extremely motivated to learn online. I certainly wouldn't have been motivated, and I know my kids wouldn't have been. My kids are very successful now, but I didn't see the urge to learn until they were in college. That's when kids realize they better learn something in order to get a job. Same would go for most learning a skill in technical schools if not college. Last Edited by nutmeg on 04/29/2021 11:47 AM |

Tried to drug me up and mindcontrol my ass, so they couldn't? They just put me in with all the juveniles. All the Asshole kids, the "Special Educated" so I played it their way, acted dumb. Pretty much had to stand my ground the whole way up. Glad I was freed from that shitshow back in 09. I could just leave school whenever I wanted. No one gave me shit, I knew how to cover my ass though, knew when I could take advantage of it. My group of friends, we'd eat lunch then be like "fuck this shit lets go get drunk" lmao Go back to the house get the weed out and start living life. |

They do exactly the same things they would in class. I sit with them in their classes from morning to afternoon. I don't understand why they would be failing if they are being taught. What are these teachers doing during the day? I also have one graduating early this year. She took extra AP classed in order to graduate, everything is online. Kids need real world experience. And someone to show them that a life selling drugs leads to prison or death. |

What are these teachers doing during the day? Quoting: Sterling88 I also have one graduating early this year. She took extra AP classed in order to graduate, everything is online. Not everyone has the opportunity to be home with their kids so your lucky. There are many single parents who have to work. The private schools remained open and are fine. So why did the public schools stay closed?? Florida opened in September and are doing fine. Why did all the other states stay closed?? Politics at play and the unions strong arming students and families who are the ones that pay the price. In that pursuit, the Great Barrington Declaration coauthors have advised Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis in switching his COVID-19 strategy from lockdowns to focused protection on Sept. 25, 2020. As a result, media organizations such as CBS have targeted DeSantis and his advisors, including by spreading false information. Kulldorff has repeatedly publicly stated that he does not support “let it rip,” but “focused protection” of well-known high-risk populations, such as the elderly and those in nursing homes. In a March panel with DeSantis, for example, Kulldorff said, “Lockdown is just a form of ‘let it rip,’ but at a little bit of dragging it out more, and by dragging it out more it actually makes it more difficult people for older people to protect themselves, because they have to do it for a longer time. So ‘let it rip’ is not a good strategy.” He also publicly countered the John Snow claim that natural COVID infection does not confer immunity. Given this, the CDC pushing Kulldorff out of helping oversee vaccine safety systems he helped invent smacks of retaliation against a scientist who has dissented against scientifically indefensible positions repeatedly communicated to the public by top CDC officials.
