They do it when the orbital plane of the space station aligns with the launch site. It doesn't matter whether that's early in the morning or late at night. We got lucky this time that it was timed properly for this brilliant display, but that's not always the case. It was not the case for the previous crew-1 launch. |

At the 5-6min mark, that's the second and first stage. I assume the first stage is "lower" from second, camera pans down to first stage, pans up to second. What causes those weird pulsing auras in the second stage and why are they pulsing? |

(OP) Senior Forum Moderator 04/26/2021 06:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Pointless waste of money. The world is in disarray and people are starving so let's launch rockets that look cool. Neato guys, you've saved us all. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76095815 You should be proud. The first french commander of ISS launched on this flight. You can't just stop and start funding for space missions wherever you feel like, and if we wait for every problem in the world to be solved, we will die out on this planet. As you may have heard by now Russia is pulling the plug on the ISS pretty shortly and America has never built a viable long term space station on its own (no Skylab was not viable) and the ISS is end of life so enjoy these next 4 years while they last it could be a while... They're already back pedaling on that, pushing their pull out day to 2028 according to the very latest reports. They do this every now and again to push for more support. You have to remember that until very recently, NASA was entirely dependent on the Russians for seats to the space station. We were buying those at a premium. Now that source of income is dramatically reduced and their soyuz flights are no longer subsidized. The head of Roscosmos, Dimitri Rogozin, seems particularly salty about it and he likes to insult SpaceX at every turn. NASA wants to barter with Russia in the interest of international cooperation and offer them free dragon seats in exchange for free soyuz seats. Russia is currently refusing to cooperate on that and they keep making vague statements about how unsafe the dragon is. There's a lot more to the story too, including some former cosmonauts who are not towing the line and want their fellow cosmonauts to be able to ride on the dragon. Rogozin allegedly even used an official social media account of a Russian space robot to insult one of those former cosmonauts and accuse him of being drunk in space. So yeah there's a lot of pointless bullshit and drama going on over there in Russia right now. They hate Elon musk, you have to keep in mind that he originally approached them about buying an old ICBMs to launch payloads to Mars. When they demanded too much money he decided to go off and form SpaceX instead. So it probably stings quite a bit that their own actions have resulted in the company that has been the first to enable America to launch its own astronauts from its own soil and thereby end the dependency on soyuz flights. |

They're probably sick of all the lies and arrogance of "authority", everywhere. There are some very huge question marks around many activities in "space", and so little open discourse allowed, without immediate attacks and derogatory comments from those that support the "official" narrative. No "alternatives are even allowed to be contemplated anymore, according to "science"... "we's gots it all figured out". (lol) It's easy to base "evidence" on a self-referential representative model, to prove the model. The problem is, it doesn't "prove" anything other than the "representational model" itself. So much "science" these days is "taken to be true" (without proof), then used as "truth" itself. Example: "Look, I made a thing using rules (your videos), to prove the rules of the thing I made (some questionable scientific axioms)". People get annoyed at your unwillingness to question your own "axioms". |

People get annoyed at your unwillingness to question your own "axioms". The whole point of this video is to provide evidence as to whether or not people actually boarded the rocket. There's nothing circular about it and it is independent evidence. My videos are not the rules, that is not how this works. My videos are independent footage. That is a fact. You're complaining about derogatory comments but the comment I was responding to was itself derogatory. So you don't get to complain about that. Don't like it? Too bad. |

Notice how the thruster plumes from the first stage freely expand initially as it lights up from the sun. Later on in the video as it gets closer to the entry burn, you can actually see the shock waves forming in the gas that is leaving the rocket. Just before the entry burn the thruster plumes are barely visible as small blips because they're no longer freely expanding since the atmosphere is building around them. |
