Guys from their teens on up have been modding trucks and cars to look “bad” forever. You just never noticed before because you thought this country was all nice and sparkly. Probably grew up in a suburb, huh. I know guys that were modding and ramming people 50 years ago. |

The manufacturers are even in on the game as their research is finding the more intimidating they can make their product look, the better it sells, all other functionality aside. It's getting rough out there. Well, Texas is hot. I would probably tint the hell out of my glass so the air conditioner could keep up. I am seeing more full tinted windshields as well and that is really dangerous at night. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78126632 I spent 7 years living in that s*** hole. Worst part are the blue hairs. If anybody doesn't know what a blue hair is it's somebody who's so f****** old their hair looks blue. When I lived in Florida I called them frogs cuz basically it was like a frog trying to peek up over the steering wheel cuz they're all hunched over so f****** old |

I know what a normal headlight looks like, it doesn't look like the eye of sauron, and suddenly, all the newer cars look satanic. plus they all got '666' on the license plates, what the fuck is that? I go to the BMV and there's 'sample' plates posted all over everything with '999 999' on the plates why are we in hell? it's all lesbians in power. |

User ID: 72816341 United States 04/25/2021 11:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had a 2015 Toyota Camry back in 2017 and that was a good looking car. Ive seen the models that have come out since which ride really low to the ground and almost have a scowling look on the grill and I thought it just looked like too much. Ive warmed up to the look over this last year though and I might look into buying a 2019 or 2020 model. I guess Toyota was just ahead of the curve when it came to this angry looking style, but it is definitely popular. They can't steal the sunset. |

People tend to project their personality onto their vehicle. It sort of becomes their avatar on the road. Quoting: •Scott• Lately any accessory that can be bolted onto a Jeep Wrangler that makes it appear bigger and meaner has been selling like hotcakes. Off road mods I get. Lifts, bigger tires make a Jeep more capable off road. But one came in the other day and it looked like something out of a Mad Max movie. It was dull black, it had a steel visor and the whole nose was sheet metal and he had put red halos in the once round and now evil squinting headlights to make it look as menacing as possible. Mazda went through a brief period with their cars when they made them to look like they were grinning and it almost bankrupted them. They weren't well received at all. No one wanted a happy smiling car. Any car or truck that is fast, loud and can look intimidating is getting snapped up in record numbers. Challengers. Chargers. The new $100,000 Ram TRX Hellcat truck. We can't keep them in stock. Driving styles are also reflecting attitudes and egos. These jacked up jeeps and trucks are rarely driven slowly and sedately. They're usually tailgating, speeding, whipping in and out of traffic and just begging for a wreck. I'm seeing it as a collective cry for help. People are afraid and insecure, and they certainly don't want to appear that way to their fellow humans, so overcompensation in the other direction is the result. Why else take a humble jeep like this, [imgur] [link to i.imgur.com (secure)] And spend a lot of money to turn it into something like this? [imgur] [link to i.imgur.com (secure)] All it looks like to me is some people have too much money on their hands |

No person who is mature needs to "show-off" to anyone. All the talent shows on TV, the selfie culture, tattoos, youtube content creators, and so forth are manifestations of narcissism. All of that coincides with the increase in trends in the auto styling observed by the OP. |

We are headed for a massive crash and hyper-inflation all of these worthless ego-toys will go for 10 cents on the dollar or less. Stupid willfully-ignorant people get equivalent prizes, what saddens me is the little people around them suffer like their children. The USA is built on a flawed system, and as we dig ourselves into a hole so deep that we'll never get out of financially, China, Germany, Japan and all the other major powers are kicking-ass, and excluding us from free-trade agreements world-wide. Our leadership is a joke, and has been a joke for decades. We keep lying to ourselves that we are strong, but let the truth be known our comfort-zone is about to get taken away on so many levels that people won't know wtf to do. Wake-up USA, but I doubt it. |
