There's no meaning without free will and consequences. God permits people to do or think what they want. He's allowing people to choose a side. Then He'll return to judge our decision.

You can't blame God for the free decisions of human beings. And the natural evil (e.g. disease) that occurs in our world is a result of God remaining relatively distant from creation. If He were any closer, then His holiness would destroy those who haven't accepted Jesus as their savior. He's trying to give people like you the chance to turn to Him before He does return.
