Have you ever seen someone die?
I have a few times...mostly family members. Some say they can "see" the soul leave the body when the last breath is taken. I will definitely admit there is a definite "presence" when the passing occurs. Very surreal moment, for sure.

two hundred, burning alive, from start to finish caught on camera, during a concert, happened along time ago. found it on youtube three years ago. still can see it perfectly implanted in my head.

just to add a quick note: I have personally never watched a person die up close or around my presence. honestly. only either on camera, or stood over by a casket of one who had passed.

Yes. Suicide by subway when I was 12.

Few others as well, but none as violent as that.

Yes, my mother. MY dad kissed her hand and she did one last deep breath, and she was gone. It was awfully sad but also amazing.

Re: Have you ever seen someone die?
My cat died in my arms. Was hit by a car in the night, lay in the gutter in the rain until the morning where my neighbour informed me.

I hurried to check it wasn't true, carried him across the street to the local vets where the poor sod lay on the table with a broken back and legs, looked me in the eye as I stroked him, smiled and closed his eyes.

Fleas jumped off his body that very moment. It was surreal.

I cried to myself every car trip to work for weeks.

Unfortunately not in the hospital setting and I believe 2 or three times now, not sure if that last one was saved in the hospital or not after they whisked him away.

Each time takes a toll on you. But in a hospital setting, I think it can be worse if their drawn-out events over months instead of seconds and minutes.

Each second is precious treat it like its your last.

Re: Have you ever seen someone die?
Yes. A murder; in a seedy San Francisco neighborhood when a man was shotgunned backwards out a three story window and landed half in the gutter below. It happened across the street right outside my apartment window.

The SWAT team showed up within a couple of minutes and secured the area as they searched for the killer. The SWAT commander even yelled at me to get my head back in my window and turn my music down~~~

Later I discovered the killer ended up trying to escape by jumping from the building roof to the next one over [just like in the movies] but they caught him hiding out there.

Here's the kicker: within 90 minutes, the cops had finished their street investigation and the fire department had hosed the blood off the sidewalk. It all went down that fast and clean.

And, NO- I did not see the victim's soul float up out of his shredded body.

For the rest of the time I lived there I called that building the "Murder Manor."

Re: Have you ever seen someone die?
Yes I was a hospice nurse for 5 years. A few times, my patients @saw” someone coming to get them. The first man I saw die was an older gentleman, mean spirited, I came in to turn him, he grabbed my arm and said watch out behind you with terror in his eyes, and then he passed I believe it was demons coming to get him. I got chills up and down my body, very surreal

Re: Have you ever seen someone die?
My dad.

I walked in the room when my dad died, and i saw him gulp his final breath.

I was happy for him, it was over, ie dying.

I will not say anymore, as people will not want to hear what i say about death.

Re: Have you ever seen someone die?
I read long ago a Doctor who studied death told of a person being on a scale who was passing it was purposeful planned part of his study. He said when the person passed the persons body immediately lost 15 pounds. He felt that was the weight of the deceased persons soul.

Re: Have you ever seen someone die?
Sort of.. I was first on the scene of a car accident where the guy hit a telephone poll, then fell out of his Jeep. At first I thought he was a drunk driver, but the medic said it was diabetic shock and he probably wasn't going to make it. I gave a statement to the police, but I never found out if the guy survived or not.
