Lowering nicotine levels to "non-addictive" levels means current smokers will need to buy and smoke 20 packs of cigarettes per smoke break to get their fix. This is a boon to both the big tobacco industry and to the cancer industry.

The Biden administration is considering requiring tobacco companies to lower the nicotine in all cigarettes sold in the U.S. to levels at which they are no longer addictive, according to people familiar with the matter.

Administration officials are considering the policy as they approach a deadline for declaring the administration’s intentions on another tobacco question: whether or not to ban menthol cigarettes.

The Food and Drug Administration must respond in court by April 29 to a citizens’ petition to ban menthols by disclosing whether the agency intends to pursue such a policy. The Biden administration is weighing whether to move forward on a menthol ban or a nicotine reduction in all cigarettes—or both, the people familiar with the matter said.

The White House and the FDA didn’t immediately comment Monday.

I thought most people quit smoking years ago.

I vaped to get off the tobacco for 2 years and then quit the vaping since it's much easier to stop that way.

About 4 years now zero nicotine.

I went the other route. I smoked 1 pack of Marlboro per day for 5 years, then switched to Winston's at 2 packs a day for 15 more years and then I switched to snuff. I've been dipping for 21 years now and I feel GREAT! When I started tobacco 41 years ago a pack of Marlboros ran about 75 cents.

Never once craved a cigarette! Might be because each can of snuff contains about a carton of cigarette's amount of nicotine.

I went the other route. I smoked 1 pack of Marlboro per day for 5 years, then switched to Winston's at 2 packs a day for 15 more years and then I switched to snuff. I've been dipping for 21 years now and I feel GREAT! When I started tobacco 41 years ago a pack of Marlboros ran about 75 cents.

Never once craved a cigarette! Might be because each can of snuff contains about a carton of cigarette's amount of nicotine.

So glad I quit. No more freedom in America.
